I did not want to "steal" Ron's original post, so I have opened this thread.

Below is the resin 1969 Coronet (from an MPC Original) I am starting with.  Engine is a Revell 440 from the Charger R/T kit.  Tires are MRC rubber mickey Thompson Indy Profiles (big & little).  The theme for my build is an early to id 70's modified street machine.  Color will be Mopar Brite Green Metallic (to be ordered from MCW).  Interior will feature T-handled Hurst shifter, aftermarket steering wheel, and.....I thought maybe shag carpet, but that would be too cheesy!

Wheels are to be determined.  Suggestions are welcome.  First possible choice will be Keystone Klassics

Second would be Chrome Reverse with Baby Moons

Target date is June 1 2009

looking good, if the coronet is the same scale as the revelle 69 super bee then wont the charger motor look a little to small or is that the reason you picked it, since the chargers a different scale. I dont really know though but if theyre the same scale your all good. good luck. cant wait to see both of them.

We are using 1/25 scale Coronet R/Ts based on the original MPC annuals. Mine is an original plastic kit, which I am resurrecting, and Drew's is a resin body. The 1/25 scale '69 Charger engine will be fine for both of our builds. I have a collection of reference material, as well as several on line sources for my replica stock build.

To quote Flounder from Animal House, "Oh boy, this is gonna be great !!!!". Two 69 Coronets, wow !!! I think the Keystones look good, don't forget the 8 Track player and Hi Jacker Air Shocks.

heys guys i will be following along on this one. nothing wrong with shag carpeting. i agree with the last reply on the hi jacker shocks & 8 track. How bout some cherry bombs also. gotta love those build offs. I thing i hear led zepplin in the background.

o. o.k., now that i look at the engine bay it looks like its based off of the amt 69 gtx. how you have to assemble it but ether way, best of luck to both of you. i like how your putting headers on drew.

I had already been considering the Gabriel Hi Jackers and Cherry Bomb mufflers, though I am debatting whether to go full exhaust with the mufflers or header mufflers with an abreviated exhaust.  An eight track.....hmmm, I hadn't thought of that.  Know a good source (photoetch or otherwise)?

Don't forget the extended rear spring shackles. Back in the day you couldn't go a whole day without seeing a half-dozen sets of these things on the local street fighters.

I like Drew's Ideas on his build. As a kid, I recieved the original annual kit for Christmas (the best Christmas ever for me modelwise as a kid), which I painted with some Pactra Turquoise Paint with a white interior, built as a street machine in my semi-crude style at the time. About 5 years ago, I bought a resin body of this kit, which I later discovered would need more work to make it look right that I had time for, so I sought out a plastic kit. I found one on Ebay, that was an unpainted built-up. It was not complete, but it was definitely workable.

It was missing the hood, wheels, tires, and had the custom front grill. I bought the latter two from The Modelhaus, and went to my parts box fo the wheels and tires.

The wheels are JoHan steelies with the Dog Dish caps from the Lindberg '64 Dodge 330 (correct for this car, but wrong for that one), and a set of Goodyear Redlines from Revell's '69 Charger.

The interior is all there, and it came apart easily, as it was lightly glued.

 I'm going to ditch the kit chassis for this project, and use the chassis from the AMT '69 GTX, which will give me a detailed chassis. I have to go to the parts box for a 440 Magmum V8 (probably a Revell '69 Charger R/T).

This car is going to represent a Coronet R/T with the 440 Magmum 4bbl, and the Super Trak Pak (Dana 60 rear axle). I have several colors to choose from for this build, so it will be a while before I paint it, but I have done the body detailing, and mocked up the underhood area and chassis from the aforementioned GTX kit. I look forward to this one.

This look to be a cool build off. I like the look of the resin kit looks nice and clean. Did you say were you got it?

I had one these 1:1 my very first car. I owned it for 7 years drove it across county Va, TX Ca, Mi, N.J back to Va. I sold it to my younger brother and then he sold it to my older brother. Between the three of use we had that car for 18 years total. It had the big -n- little tires with ET mags rear shekels and cherry bomb mufflers.My older brother painted it Hemi Orange.

So you putting the disc brake detail into the front wheels then (as the super trac-pac came with discs front)?  Sounds like a good build-off of a cool Mopar.

Thanks for the information. I may just do that as I have some disc brakes that will fit on the spindle, but they will not be seen by anyone but me, since this is not a contest quality build. Imagination is everything. I could also wire and plumb the model, but I am too old and feeble to do that.

 I have the grille surround, and everything I need to get started. Now we need the weather to warm up so that I can start painting. I'm using the chassis from the latest AMT mopar kit for more detail.
