stripping paint off of plastic interior

    Hey all ..

Does anyone know a way to strip paint off of plastic without hurting the plastic .. ? I'm talking about seats and interior parts .. I would think I could sand it off but the seats have a texture and I dont think sanding would work well ..

    Thank you

    Rick

....or brake fluid. Its slow but it works. Slow as in days, not hours

Re: stripping paint off of plastic interior

While this subject has been covered about a million times and everybody has his or her favorites, I'll offer a couple suggestions.

I know that some people like oven cleaner, but it can be very messy, it is very caustic, and it is (usually) malodorous.

Common cleaners/de-greasers, such as, Westley's Bleche-Wite, SImple Green, and (formerly Castrol) Super Clean all work well and will strip chrome in a few hours and paint, depending on the type, anywwhere from minutes to days. Super Clean has become my favorite and I used it the other to strip acrylic and enamel from interior parts and it took less than an hour. None of these has been satisfactory with lacquer, which brings me to my new favorite for that task, the aforementioned brake fluid. They say to use DOT 3 only. I used it recently for the first time to strip Tamiya lacquer the other day and it did the job in a matter of a few hours!

    Hope this helps a little.
