Re: LETS SEE YOUR FIRST MODEL
My first model was the pickup truck from The Fall Guy. It was terrible. There was glue all over the windows, and since my parents didn't trust me with a hobby knife when I was 8, the rims were pushed as far into the tires as I could get them with the little rubber X's blocking the way. Alas, it met some fireworks one Fourth of July along with much of the rest of that collection.
I do have to say that most of the examples here are hundreds of times better than that glue bomb. None of my models from my childhood and adolescence survived, unfortunately.

Though it is now long since history, my first model was the Revell "Chris Craft Flying Bridge Cruiser". It was in 1959 or 1960 when I was in the third grade. I built it myself (but did not paint it) while Dad told me what to do. I entered it in the third grade talent contest, but was beat-out by a kid who built the same kit but "slapped" (and I DO mean slapped) the worst ever paint job on his. I can still see that paint, brush strokes, runs and all. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was very disappointed. It wasn't quite so bad when I won second place for an abstract drawing of a teddy bear. But, I STILL remember!!! Kasy

Re: LETS SEE YOUR FIRST MODEL
I'm not sure what my first model was, it could have been one of the Matchbox military kits in 1/76 or aircraft kits in 1/72 molded in two or three colors...or one of the Airfix military and aircraft kits in the same scales, they were cheap and I built lots of them back in the early 70's before I discovered car models, I don't still have them since they all have succumed to some hard playing and fallen to bits and thrown away. The first car model I built was an AMT stock mid 70's Chevrolet Nova, it was about 1975-76 and I was about 11-12 years old. My second car model was the AMT Ford "Hyper Hut" Van and the third was the Monogram Bad Man 55 Chevy...I don't have pics of any of them. After that I can't really recall as I have built quite a few models since then.

Re: LETS SEE YOUR FIRST MODEL
Here is my first completed glue together kit.

Although the pictures are recent as the model was found in with boxes of parts I built this in 78 at the age of 7. I entered this in the WSRA (Western Street Rod Association) Western Nationals and won a 1st place and was hooked on model building. I've thought about restoring it, but decided just to clean it up and put it with my recent builds.
