On Monday (or maybe Tuesday) I ordered several different colors of flocking from
www.craftflocking.com
It arrived today and everything looks great! Each packet costs $1.25 and has enough material to flock at least half a dozen car carpets, maybe twice that! I ordered 8 different colors which should last me through all my projects for YEARS AND YEARS!
If you're tired of trying to find flocking locally, or your LHS has some but not the colors you need, check these people out!

Re: Great Flocking Source!
They say each packet will cover 3 square feet. We'll see. I know these packets are easily big enough to do a half-dozen cars each. I also have an old Smith & Wesson presentation mahogany case with a blue insert that's losing its Royal Blue flocking. I'm gonna re-do it with this stuff, too.
I bought 8 different colors for a total of $10. $7.50 shipping, OUCH, but you could easily spend that on one run to your LHS depending on how far you live. Since this $17.50 purchase should last me the rest of my modeling life, I'm very happy with the deal.
The ONLY bad thing about this place was they didn't have a dark green color. I have a couple dark green interiors planned and they had nothing to match. Ah shucks oh well, I've gotten along with paint for years.

Re: Great Flocking Source!
My first attempt to use the stuff was last weekend. I used thinned white glue and wasn't 100% happy with the results but I think it was due to the glue. Since then I got the new issue of SAE which shows maybe a better way to do it. I hope to try a couple more flock-jobs over the long weekend.
The flocking itself seems to be FINE, my slight dissatisfaction with my job is due to my application process, I'm sure.

Re: Great Flocking Source!
Good tip ! Thanks for letting us all know!
I just flocked my first floor (Carpet) Looks terrible!!! I need to redo. I used Kens fuzzy fur. I think the flock was good. But the installer... (Me) not so good!!! Do you have any tips on application? I used elmers glue but after it dried, the flock that "stuck" seemed real spotty or clumped not smoot and even. Any suggestions?

Re: Great Flocking Source!
You're not alone on the poor flocking experience... I tried to apply my 1st round of flock after reading the current issue of SA and boy... it looks bad! Chunky mess! I'm looking forward to trying again. I think I'm going to try a thicker glue. I watered the 1st batch down a bit becasue it looked so think, but I think that is why is turned out so poorly. Will try again soon.
Good luck on yours

Me too, my experience EXACTLY! I'm gonna use white glue straight next time.
This was my problem--the flocking itself is FINE. BTW, I was able to just wash my botched job out completely with hot water!

Re: Great Flocking Source!
Try using an acrylic flat paint the color your flocking is instead of the glue. This is the way I've been doing it for a while and have been pleased with the results. Brush it on liberaly but don't let it pool and sprinkle on with some type of strainer like for tea or something similar. If you don't get enough coverage go over it again.

Re: Great Flocking Source!
Try using the white glue un-thinned. Normal type white glue will work fine. Use a paintbrush to cover a section than pour on the flocking to 1/8 inch depth or more. Press it down and let dry before turning the interior over and tapping to get rid of the excess. Keep the layer of glue pretty thin - I use a normal paintbrush for this - nothng special.

Re: Great Flocking Source!
Jeff, that was exactly the way I was planning to try it next time.

Re: Great Flocking Source!
I flock afew of my cars already, been doing it for like afew years now. I have found somthing that is better then glue, I use clear colorplace paint. I tape off the areas I don't want paint on and I do a pass by ( in the area or spot) with the clear just enough so that the flocking has somthing to set on. I sprikle to just about droping the stuff on and then i press the stuff down and leave it set like 15 minutes then turn the interior tub over that I'm working on.
The flocking that is free will drop away and afew taps on the tub just to make sure the there is no free loose flocking still hanging on the tub. I have nice and great results doing it this way.
