    feedback on new forum

there's no 'forum jump' like was on the old one, where i could go straight from one category to another (eg muscle car to diorama) without going back to the root first.

i hate when a message is wider than the default width it gets a horizontal scroll bar. it makes it hard to read and gives the advertisement priority over the thread.

these my only issues with the new forum.

    Re: feedback on new forum

I have been slowly working my way around in the 'new' forum and seems if we spend more time doing that, it gets better. Lots of errors made and some things don't work but its starting to feel a little better.

I agree about the 'forum jump' and it sure would save time if we had that feature back or maybe we do have it? but not found it yet.

Another problem, if I try to delete my post cause of a mistake or double posts, its a major pain to delete ones own posts! Way tooo complicated. So far, I have not been able to delete anything.

    Re: feedback on new forum

Here is my feedback for the new forum after a few days of using it.

I'm slowly trying to adjust to the new forum format wich is one I really don't like because it's unnecesarily complicated to use, I also don't like that the expanded pics comes in a flash window because I think it slows everything down, and I think the adverticing column at the right are a bit too large and takes up space from what I think is important...yes I know adverticing is nessesary but...well you know.

I also think this new forum is a bit sluggish and it takes longer for the pages to load than the old forum, it would also be great to have a "mark forum read" feature and a "posted since last visit" feature, all there is now is a "Find posts not read" feature and with all threads copied over from the old forum there are thousands, and I don't want to open all of them all over to get them to be marked as read in this forum.

I would also like to be able to compose the text I'm writing as I want it and not as it is now with this default setting, when i use the return key the cursor go down two rows instead of one like as I'm supposed to start a new chapter even tho' the next line with a new sentence is related and I want it up with what I wrote before, if I would like to start a new chapter I can easily hit the return key twice and get the spacing myself.   I hate reading cluttered text or hacked up text as the result is if you write with the default setting for this forum format.   I also can't copy text from someplace else and paste it in here as can be done on most forums and I think thats a bit irritating.

I know that there are some glitches, things that have to be fixed and questionmarks that have to be straightened out and I hope it doesn't take long.

I'm a member of another forum that recently changed over to the same forum format as this and I don't go there as much as I did before they changed, the thing is that I like this community and all the folks around here, and think this is one of the best out there, and therefore I will try to get used to this forum format.

Force, i think you can get one line by pressing shift+enter (ie hold shift and press enter).

Yes I just discovered that by accident a couple of minutes ago when I wrote another post.
It seems a bit backwards and unnecessary as the default setting should be one line when I press return, but I guess I can get used to it.

Sure would be nice to have a "Back to top of Page" button, like there USED to be.

Also...is the ability to post a poll now gone?

There's a Poll tab visible when you start a new thread.

Where??? I don't see it. I see 4 tabs, none of which say "Poll"...

Harrys right.  Maybe you as an  Admin have a feature we don't but theres no poll tab.  Only place I thought it could be hiding is the options, but that hust has where I can get emails from the post or lock replies out

I'm double-checking with our Online department as we speak, because I discovered that it may well be that polling is Admin-only now.

Biggest issue I have is load time. Cable internet at home and hi-speed at work. Still slow with either one.

Are you experiencing the slowness in general -- or is there a specific topic that is causing you this slow response time? (can you reply back with the thread links and/or topic where this is true)

Oh - one other thing - can you post the day/times this may be occuring. We do have maintenance processes that execute on a schedule - and I would need to coorelate your day/times with our schedule.

    thank you.

I also find this new forum slow and sluggish, and that's in general as it takes relatively long time to load the pages, longer that the old forum and lots of other forums I'm a member of.
And it doesn't matter what time I'm in here, the load time seems to be about the same day or night.

Since posting about load times a while back............ I've noticed that it loads quicker than before at work (dsl)((not that I surf the net at work )) than it used too. Still slow at home though. Cable internet. Any time. Day or night.

    Re: feedback on new forum

Its been getting slower a lot lately but in the last 2 days, it has kicked up speed a little( between 11:30 am to 2 am)...still too slow and acts like its overloaded or bloated...Replys to existing messages seem really in a slow motion like move...The older version was twice as fast. I notice posting in the forum especially in the Builders Corner has dropped quite a bit in the last 2 weeks and the general complain seems to be that its such a hassle to write a topic & reply to them.
