Good news then. I hope they'll moulded them in white or gray, those Blueprinter ones were cast in black and I found it tricky to get the paint to cover 'em nicely.

My vote for the kit to consider reissuing is the FIAT Topolino / slingshot double dragster, it was last out as a Blueprinter so hopefully the moulds aren't too far away.

But just about anything AMT is good news.

Wonder if anyone kept the formulas for the AMT custom spray paints and lacquers?

Good news. I'll be getting a couple of the Allison engines, and the Corvair engine could make for a neat project, too.

You can get a R Gibson engine for that $$$. I've never heard of the blueprinter stuff but at $25.00 they better be darn good. I do remember those god awful Revell chrome engines. I guess the engines weren't all that bad for a kit based engine but I think they would have been better molded in white plastic and no chrome parts at all.

Sure, but this price buys you several parts pack engines. Personally, I think this is a pretty cool deal. I paid almost that much for just the Allison engine on eBay a couple of years ago.

Re: RE: RE: Re-issue coming: AMT Parts Pack Engines plus 'T' body

I have to agree, its not a bad deal really.  Yes, the engines are all chromed but are just exquisitly detailed.  And, that gives you the option to easily dechrome in bleach such things as the block and leave the chrome on any accessories you would like; valve covers, bloweres and particularly headers which just scream for some heatstaing with some washes or with Tamiya's new dry brush weathering kits.  I think its set D that comes with burnt red, burnt blue and oil stain.

Anyway, who doesn't need a blown 392 Hemi for a vintage drag project, the pontiacs have Offenhauser aftermarket ribbed valve covers, the Chevys look nice too, and of course the Allison really can sort of be a model in itself.

Also, the T body is perfect for any altered or roadster class car and comes with a well engraved dash, roll bar, steering box and pedal unit, butterfly steering wheel, a nice racing bucket seat, tonneau cover and I'm not sure what else.

In fact, now that I think about it, its a great price; all this for the equivalent of a kit and a half, or maybe 2 kits if you really know where to find the deals.  I'm not a great fancier of this type of drag car or street rod that would use these things, but I was enthused enough by the Pack to pick up an AMT 32 coupe to do a channelled rod (easy with that kit) with the hemi, and some ancient Halibrands I have, probably from the old Watson roadster but yes, likely 42 years old! Then I can do a dragster later too, probably with the blown Pontiac.

The bottom line, as Larry Greenberg used to say, Highly recommended if not all the way to, Gotta have!

That's good news.  Those parts packs go for too much money on Evil-Bay here.

Now, they need to also reissue the AMT parts pack with the Allison, hot rod chassis, wheels & tyres and xmas tree, movie camera etc.

    The hot rod chassis has a really neat little torsion bar front end set up.  There's a build in the contest pics in this months SA with it wrongly listed as a Revell chassis.  I chopped up 2 (already butchered) chassis and used the some of the wheels for the front end of this;

I think this may be one of those peculiar juxtapositions where, as a consumer, you don't really want buy things "just because". But at the same time, the purchase of kits like these will hopefully encourage the manufacturers to take more chances.

I think there's some really cool stuff there that isn't exactly main stream that I for one would love to get my hands on, but unless there's some business reason to make these kits; they'll never see the light of day.

That said, I'm never one to advocate wanton consumerism.

I however, will be buying this parts pack "just 'cause."

Re: Re-issue coming: AMT Parts Pack Engines plus 'T' body

Christmas came in July for me yesterday.  My order arrived from Model Roundup.  The parts pack was well worth waiting for.  Yes, the engines are completely chromed.  Not a problem.  I am more than happy with my purchase.  And very happy w/ Model Roundup!  One question though for the forum experts- I bought the parts pack #8435 about 10 years ago.  It had a chassis included.  This new parts pack#38677 has a T roadster body included.  Does the body have any relationship to the chassis?

Someone once told me that there were engines other than the Chrysler Hemi-but thats just crazy talk!
