    Smokey & Bandit 3

If you haven't seen this movie, you're lucky! it's taken a poor script (sm2) and made it worse. Its so bad that Burt Reynolds wanted nothing to do with it. The basic premise is Big Enis challenges the retiring Sherriff Justice to make a cross country run and gets the Bandit to stop him. Without the Bandit, the task falls to his sidekick (snowman). He gets a new trans-am for this outing, which is a 82~83 Pontiac Firebird, its' virtually the same car used in the Knight Rider, so that's where i started, with the MPC KR kit. I'm putting this thread in factory stock because i basically stockified the KR kit. I removed the distinctive nose scanner and changed the steering wheel to stock. i did have a 99 firebird dash that i was going to use, but i couldnt' find it in my parts box when it came time to build, doh. I added the distinctive gold band before masking and painting the gloss black. it polished up nicely. Does anyone have any stock "transam" and small 'screaming chicken' decals?

It is well done . This is a nice model . The cult film ; "Smokey and the Bandit" was a '78 Firebird TA . That car in the movie sold MANY TAs of that time . It was Sherrif Justice (the late Jackie Gleason) to stop Bandit (Burt Reynolds) and Snowman (the late Jerry Reevies) from making a beer run  . The type of Beer , Coors , wasn't sold leagally at that time east of some border . Coors has been available for some time all 50 States . I really don't remember "III"  . Is that the one where they Crashed many Pontiac Grand AMs ordered by a car renatal agency without A/C  . Hollywood got this lot CHEAP .  The bet was between Lil and Big Enuses to make this illegal run in a certain amount of time in the first movie .  . The decals you want would be probably available <rocketfin.com_model_car_links> . Thanx..

It is Stryene I'm addicted to ! Too many cars , too little time .

The only reason I saw this was because I found a three-pack of the Bandit movies for cheaper than the first one by itself.  I didn't even know there was a third one before that.  Nice job on the model!

Looks really good! I just watched the movie last night, I loved it! Sure, nothing compares to the original, but I think part 2 and 3 are extremely underrated! BTW, where is the red Vega that Buford crashed into?:))

    Nice build on the T/A.

I grew up on SATB...and would have never seen SATB III either if not for the "Pursuit Pack" from Wallyworld.  Never even knew it existed.  Think I remember reading that after Reynolds bowed out, and Gleason played a more active role that one of the working titles for the film was "Smokey IS the Bandit"?

MoPars II...I think you should seriously consider seeing someone for your affliction.  All kidding aside, they are pretty good if can try not to compare them to the original.  It's almost like #1 was a whole other movie...not part of the series.

Managed to find some TRANSAM and mini chicken logos decals... in a LS brand 85 pontiac firebird that i had.

decals were difficult to remove from the backing paper, but look very good on there. i also painted the indicators and hubcap pontiac logos. it's the little things that make all the difference. :-)

btw, The figure was made from Preiser unpainted adam kit. i was going to seat him in the car, but the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 meant his head stuck out of the roof! (even after cut down)

"I'm gonna be the Bandit, I'm gonna be the Bandit...!"

I'm surprised so many of you hadn't heard there was a Bandit part 3

These movies were a staple for post-Christmas TV scheduling in the UK, and they were VERY heavily edited for daytime viewing due to the language and references, the word pe*ker being the only one to slip thru our censors since they were apparently unaware what it referred to...

SATB III was certainly the worst of the three although Jerry Reed (RIP) did his best, and Burt appeared very briefly at the end. The main thing I remember, other than the notable absence of a big rig for Snowman, was that full 360 degree spin that 'Jerry' did after picking up the Trans Am - I'd never seen that before and as a wide eyed 15 year old spent a long time replaying that portion of the video figuring out how they did it.

Great build and a nice unusual choice of model, good work.
