Considering what is on the LHS shelves right now, I would pick the reissue Digger Cuda. In fact I did just a week or so ago. It's not the most detailed kit being an older tooling, but that's kind of it's beauty. The extras included with it and the box art are great. If I can actually pull off the paint job I have in my mind, it will probably be one of the more noticeable models on my shelf. (I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.....). Best of all, it's priced a few dollar less than other newer kits, I walked out of my favorite LHS with this kit and the latest copy of SA for $20.99.

Question for you. I also just picked up this one. Is the body warped on yours? Mine is warped enough that I am considering glueing the top and bottom together. I was hoping to be able to leave it so that I could display it either way, but at least on mine it flat won't fit together without some serious glue.

And even with that, I agree. I am happy with the kit overall. Although simple for me is good. At least at this point. :-)

    Thanks,

    Russ

Where did you find a kit that cost only $1.99!

    Funny one Mike!

Yesterday, I used a 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon and got a Revell Nova kit( lots of great extra parts!) for a little over 10 bucks and spend the rest on a sackful of Krystal burgers! Pretty good deal huh?

I would wait for the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon and go buy 2!  One 69 Nova and one 07 Hertz Mustang.  Or I would wait 'till the GT500 KR comes out and buy one o' dems.

One of Evergreen's large styrene sheet sets, a bag of assorted rods and tubes, and the balance in various strips and structural shapes.  I have a couple of scratchbuilding projects in mind.

Since my LHS is selling Revell Novas for $15, I guess I would buy one of those and see what I could score from the LHS bargain shelf.

    Trip to LHS $10.00

Find a kit worth building for under $20.00   $0

Leaving LHS for under $20.00 not happening.

2 kits and $37.50 later drove home.

    $18.00 for one

    $15.00 for the other

Is there a better source ? on-line shops want $7-10.00 to ship.

Blvd - it sounds like you found two kits under $20 to build. Regarding the Digger Cuda, if it is warped badly, return it to where you bought it. I read on another forum that the guys from Autoworld will deal with it directly with the hobby store, I'm not sure what their policy is for dealing directly with the customer. I purchased mine from the local hobby store and it is in perfect shape. The last $20 I spent was at our club raffle two weeks back. I put in $20 and walked out with a total of 10 kits! I got a Tamiya Peugeot, a '59 El Camino, a 300C, a few Nascars, and some other great stuff.

    Re: $20.00 TO SPEND??????

If it takes $10 for gas to get to the LHS, I think I'd shop online.  More variety, more options, less impulse buying.  I bought a '68 Charger recently at Hobby Town.  The kit was $19, and I got it in my hot (not-so)little hand immediately, but it only takes $2 of gas round trip.  It would have totaled $24 to buy it on line with their shipping costs.  I also went shopping at Wally World on the same trip so it was gas well burned.

    Something worth thinking about.

I would get any one of the currently available Revell '06 and up Mustang kits.  A sturdy kit with nice chrome, good transparent pieces, lots of nice, molded-in detail that really pops with some detail painting and washes, and decent decals with your choice of gauge colors (at least in the original GT kit).  It goes together well and most parts fit well, but read the instructions and test-fit the chassis into the body before you get too far.  You'll enjoy this build.

i would probably buy the A.M.T. 1956 FORD CROWN VICTORIA . WHY? the car has good old fashioned class, like the 57 CHEVY theres something about this car in yellow and black , or white over teal that makes it stand the test of time , whether as a stock build or full custom .. oldcarguy
