Okay, this has been sitting around for quite awhile as it's one of the kits that was in those 4-pack deals form Wally world during xmas ' 06. I think that's kinda cute how it says "retouched photo of actual model" on the box. You'd think that they could've at least made the picture look like the roof actually fit! But to do as a ragtop, does this at least build as a decent kit? I'm not in any hurry to do it, just sorta wondered since I've got it. I'm not too knowledgable about mopars, and I've got a ' 71 Hemi Cuda ' vert kit that'd I'd probably do first anyway. Anybody . . . . . . . ?
Regards, sfd

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
No matter what its better than Lindberg's. There was someone back in Jan - March? who did a whole series of Mopar Cudas which wouldn't be any different than the Challenger in all likelihood. Try a search on that

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
I built this one a few months ago: http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b262/mkowa/Models/Docs%20Auto%20Emporium/70%20Challenger%20440/

For an 80's AMT, it's not the best, but it's the only one of that specie that can be built and still available at a decent price. The scoop is too high, the interior's shifter is more like an automatic(thats why I turned mine into a Torqueflite) the chassis is simplistic, engine is decent enough. The interior is for the hardtop as the convertible 'wings' are not there or supplied. The body looks decent enough.

Well that looks pretty nice, Doc! I guess I could always make something strange out of it if I don't wanna do it stock. How about an AMC 390 under the hood? I can't believe I just said that! Regards, sfd

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
I took the Vanishing Point version of that kit and made this out of it. I sanded the texture off the roof and glued it down to the body. Gave it a 440 6 Pak with a 4 speed trans and a pistol grip shifter. Here's my WIP thread.

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
hello from the frozen north (E-town, AB) - you can always use the chassis, engine compartment, etc for kit-bash projects- the 440 is a POS, the shaker scoop is totally f-----d,way too big--- I put one on a Little Red Express truck for fun, loooked pretty good actually...anyways, you can build it into a half-decent model but it will never be anything more than that-- but for $5 spent WTF eh?

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
I saw an ad in the October SA for a Revell Streetburner series of a 70 Challenger that looked like an R/T with the flat hood. Waiting to see that on the shelves.

Having once owned the real deal, the interior is way off, the steering wheel is wrong and other proportions are off. The models look great though!

Re: AMT ' 70 Challenger RT
I built my '70 Challenger a few years back before I was using BMF. I didn't mind the kit but I can't remember if I had any issues with it. Here is my version painted in "Plum Crazy".

Now that's very nice indeed! Maybe there's hope for me building a hardtop after all! Regards, sfd

Would you settle for the Araii 318 V8? It even has the hole in the oil pan for the metal axle
