    Household Products

Could anyone assist me with some of the household products that are used in model building? I've been out of building for awhile and am just getting back into it. I was wondering if there is anything that can strip the chrome plating and not wreck the plastic.

Different people will suggest different things.
Myself I've had nothing but success using oven cleaner.
Spray it on the part you want to dechrome and let it sit for a few
minutes, then scrub it with an old toothbrush.

I've been told bleach will strip chrome also... though I have not yet tried it.

Other "household products" I regularly use is alcohol and Windex for thinning acrylic paint (for rust stains, mud splatters and oil washes).

Some folks use toothpaste to polish paint.

I've made a tubing bender using one nut, one bolt, and two washers.

Well where to start, well first easy-off oven cleaner the orignal fomula in the yellow can will strip the paint and chrome their is future floor wax you can use for clear coat and the windex is good for thinning future or stripping it off and thinning acrylic paints, as for the tooth paste use a paste not gel it has the  abrasives just like rubbing compound and a little water works great you just have to be real careful not to burn through the paint on the high spots, so if you have anymore questions just ask I will be more than glad to help.
