    The molds were destroyed.

Would just make a great re-ish. Too bad.

I'm happy to report that the Rommel's Rod was announced at the 2008 iHobby as a 2009 release along with the Tijuana Taxi (seriously!) and a Red Baron reissue.  Not sure if links are permitted, but in the What's new forum, if you look in the thread "New Revell kits for 2009 ??", you'll see it discussed.

I don't think the molds were destroyed. Revell has plans to re-release it.

It's also in the 2009 flier from the show so I would say it's a go. Not shown is the Bathtub Buggy also announced.  Here's a scan of it.

Here's a photo of the Tijuana Taxi built by Norm of Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland.  See photo for info.  It's awesome!

I just noticed that the seat looks like an old metal tractor seat.

I was informed that it will be an all new tool. Because yes, the tool was destroyed, and or lost:( But at least people don't have to fork out hundreds in $ on ebay soon...

Re: Rommel's Rod, Tijuana Taxi, Red Baron

    Folks:

I have asked around the LHS's, and some distributors, and nobody is aware of the 2009 releases of Rommel's Rod, Tijuana Taxi, or the Red Baron. Revell isn't very helpful either.

Does anybody else know anything about the release dates, since in Canada, we may be getting the news late? Thanks,

Check out http://www.tomdaniel.com/td_message.html under "Revell News". There are actually 5 TD cars coming out in 2009.  Rommel's Rod, Red Baron, Tijuana Taxi, Dragon Wagon and Street Fighter.

    Re: Rommel's Rod

Oh wow.  All the guys who paid BIIIIIIGGGG dollars for Rommels Rods, T Taxis and Dragon Wagons on Ebay are gonna be commiting hari kari just like Bernie Madoff's clients!!!!!!

For me, i'm happy, i'm gonna get all three at a reasonable cost and build them all.  i just know its going to seem like they're a lot harder to build than when i was a kid.  i still can't believe i could knock one of those puppies out in an afternoon....even without painting!

    Hi Firebird:

Thanks for the update of Tom's website. I can't wait for that majic day in the 1st quarter of 2009, and I intend to get at least 2 of each, and go crazy building them!

    Re: Rommel's Rod

Speaking of Rommel's Rod, I have an original I plan to finish soon. It was my dad's and was in my grandmother's garage for many years. He built most of it, but I plan to just finish the build and really weather it. I may start a thread for it early next year.....
