    Photo bucket pictures

I was looking through some of the long term build threads .I found that the photo bucket pictures have been deleted. I am not sure of the life of photo bucket pictures. I find it frustrating to look through 25 pages and find most of the pictures are deleted because of this. What can be done to save all pictures in a thread ?

As far as I know, that's a Photobucket issue, and is not something we have any say in here.

The reason that happens is people move a picture within their Photobucket or delete it, the URL to that picture is no longer correct, so you get the missing photo in any thread it was posted in.

I Guess what I was really asking ? What if anything can be done once they are posted to the magazines site to keep these pictures in the post ? I know you can not control where the pictures come from. Seams to me ,you should be able to preserve everything that is posted to this site ?

In those cases the images are not "hosted" here, so if the location/URL changes for reasons mentioned above, the original link is no longer valid. You are seeing those images through links.

One trick you can try is to use the right-click button on your mouse and then "copy image location" to find the source in Photobucket. If the picture has not been deleted it may still be somewhere in that person's Photobucket album. I do this pretty regularly, in fact, I did it yesterday when I got one of those annoying announcements.

Any pictures you see here in a post aren't really "here" on this site.

If you post a photo here from your photobucket account, what you're really posting here is not the actual photo but the image's URL, or "address". You're actually telling this site where to find your image (over at photobucket). If at some later time that image is either moved or deleted from the photobucket site, the address you gave the SA forum here in your post  for that image is no longer correct, so when your post here goes "looking" for that photo in order to display it, it can't find that image because it's no longer at the address that this site was given. So it "disappears' from your post here, because the image was never really "here" in the first place... only it's address (location on the internet) was here.
