In '69, the 4-4-2's(400ci-4BBL/4Spd(if manually equipted)-Dual Exhaust) Blocks were painted Oldsmobile Bronze, which is like a Redish Orange Metallic Color(Model Masters Bronze is very close).... Oldsmobile painted its Rocket 350's Gold in '69, and those are what was found in the Cutlass S' and W-31 Option Cutlass'.... The Only time an engine was Painted Blue in '69, was when it was placed in another Model ie Delta 88's/ Regency 98's..... Even then they were 350R's and not 400's.... The Toro 455's were also painted Bronze, to Identify the Larger CID....

When I built my '69 4-4-2, I found that Poly-S Copper was the closest match I could find to the Olds engine bronze-gold color.

Yeah I have seen that with other Builds, even some fullsize ones... GM was Odd when they had PPG do alot of their colors back in the 50/60's-80's... Most of the Colors from the 60's-70's were pretty much lost, until todays Color Matching Technology came about... For the longest time, Resto Builders of the 80's-90's were out of luck when it came to having the proper colors for their builds, as PPG Lost their half of the Info during a Fire, and GM basically got rid of the majority of their half, along with some of what they had kept was damaged in a Flood during the 70's(Heard that from a PPG Specialist Instructor, when I was going through some of their Trainning back in '94)... As for the Air-Cleaner Chewy, W30 Ram Air cars recieved Semi Gloss Black Dual Snorkel Assemblies, with Flat Black Ducting going to the inlets mounted under the front bumper.... If it was a Standard Optioned Non W30 442, the Aircleaner would have a single snorkel, and painted the Orangish Red Color.... W30 models also generally recieved Orangish Red Fiberglass inner fender wheel wells, to denote the Drag Pack Option....
