1956 Ford Thunderbird - Meadowmist Green

This is my latest project....AMT's rendition of the 1956 Ford Thunderbird painted in MCW factory colour "Meadowmist Green" I must admit that this is one of AMT's better kits. I experienced no fit issues whatsover. Have a look and feel free to comment and thanks for looking.

    Beautiful, as usual Randy!
Some of the "pro built" stuff on ebay that goes for big $ doesn't look
    half as nice.
Did 'ya start that Nova yet?

Thanks a bunch sfd for the kind words. The Nova has been started but I'm thinking of putting it on the "back burner" for a while and begin work on my Revell '58 Chevy Impala. I seem to be on a '50s kick lately.

I can't say as I like the color but I sure do like the quality of work. Did you get Mr.Mike to BMF the porthole? I understand he likes doing that stuff

A beautiful build of one of the early Birds. Your right it does look like AMT got one right. I may have to add this to my round-to-it list..The Green looks fantastic on the car..

Beautiful, as usual! This is a little bit spooky though because I just put this kit on the bench yesterday. Also just bought the 69 Nova. I probably had the same thought you did on this one - something that goes together easily, not too much foil, not too many parts and something I can start while waiting for the wheels, tires and decals for the Camaro.

I was noticing though on mine and I see it on yours too - there seems to be a sink mark just in front of the tail light housing next to the very thin Thunderbird script. If I try to fill and sand, I probably will damage the script and MCG doesn't have a PE set for it. Probably the same thoughts that you had. Maybe I'll just try to tape over the script and hope for the best!

Great job on yours! - and I am not being critical on the sink mark, just making an observation. I may choose to do the same thing!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I painted this model about six months ago and for some reason at the time I wasn't too concerned with the sink hole. After I painted it, it seem to stand out more. It is only on the right side of the car....left seems not too bad.

NIce T-bird Randy!  The color really compliments the car.  I didn't know that AMT had a '56 T-bird.  I knew that Revell had one out some time ago.

Very nice! That color just screams "50s"... beautiful choice.

I am in the middle of this project and should probably quit now after seeing your finsihed build.  Fantastic!!
I have been away from the hobby for a good long while (and i was new to begin with in the first place

I am plumbing and wiring the engine bay.  This is a great kit compared to what I have seen in limited time.  MCW lacquer I suppose?
I decided to go with ice blue pearl Boyd/Testors enamel.  I just hate enamel, so much less forgiving.  The ice blue pearl will end up closer to your green than an actualy blue....go figure.

But, I should not bother looking at your build if I have any shot at completing mine Yours is neat, clean, and sweet looking man!

I wanna go for a cruise in that thing!

Re: 1956 Ford Thunderbird - Meadowmist Green

Thanks TJ for the great compliment. Hey, get your model done and don't worry if somebody's build looks better. It doesn't matter how good a model is....there will always be someone with a better looking build. That's the way I look at it. As long as you're happy with it that's all that matters!

Be sure to post your work so we can all enjoy it!
