One bit of information I wasn't able to glean from the press release: Are the kits to be produced in the USA once more? Specifically in South Bend, IN? If that's the case, I think I'll send Tom Lowe a bottle of the good stuff!
I somehow doubt that you'll see this. While it would be nice, in a way, economics rather get in the way--unfortunate, but for the near term, pretty much a fact of life.

Okay, I can live with that.
I'd be glad to see ANYTHING new or old.
even Odd re-issues we haven't seen in 20+ years.

To clarify, this is only an announcement that Auto World has the rights to the existing AMT/MPC/Polar Lights tooling, correct?
If so, while I'll be glad to see the Mueller-era kits like the 1966 Buick Riviera and 1962 Pontiac 421SD get reissued, this announcement is rather disappointing to me.
I'm sorry if it's raining on the nostalgia parade, but AMT needs to be purchased and a fresh set of tool cutters hired. Yes, it's great fun what Model King is doing, but I hope that Tom Lowe's business strategy isn't just bringing AMT out as a 100% nostalgia reissue brand. It's that sort of short-sightedness that killed the lumbering RC2 monolith in the first place.

Everyone should read the entire press release carefully. The last sentence in the second paragraph of the press release states pretty clearly their intentions: "We will not rely solely on old tooling, but will develop new tools as well.”
But I'm with you in my desire to see them do new models vs. more and more reissues.

What ever it is, they need to study very carefully and bring out something the majority of modelers want. Not just something easy to produce that will sit on the shelves and end up at Big Lots for $5.00!
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be!! MOPAR...by far!!!

man this is great news hopefully they bring back some of the old van molds and maybe the old 79 dodge long bed pickups who knows maybe they may release some new molds like cars, trucks, and vans from the 80s I do hope for one imparticuler the 85 dodge long bed or short bed pickup does not make a difference to me as long as it the new body stile of the 80s

This is good news. Keeping our industry alive is a must, no matter who the companies are. Each time we lose one, we lose a little of ourselves. Not to kick the model collector, who is trying to make a buck. Releasing some of these out of production kits would be wonderful. I'm not paying a small fortune for a kit I can't build from a collector. Bring out the old tooling I can't wait!

Great for us, but I hope they also get a grunch of the Johan kits, like Sox & Martin's Dodge with spaghetti headers, AMX/Javelin, Hurst Olds/442 and other really classic kits. Let's bring back the 3-in-1 customizer kits, while you're at it. A lot of extra custom parts adds to the modelers parts bins and rolled pans need to make a comeback, too! I love to kit bash and I sketch out what I intend to make my custom look like. The end product is the proof of the pudding and this is just one GREAT hobby in the waaaaay too fast world today where LHS's are dropping like flies.
