detailing questions??
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 29, 2004 6:23 PM
hello hello
my questions:
1) I hear builders talk about part boxes e.x. parts box 454ci , where is a good place to find the extra detail kits. hobby stores have some but very minimal.
2) What exactly is flocking? what are the best uses for it and is there a particulary brand that is best?
thanks Shy

a parts box is just old kits that went wrong and extra parts that come with kits through em in a box and ya have ya self a parts box! the more ya build the bigger it gets i could build at least six complete cars from my parts box and still have plenty of extra parts for other kits. the purpose of a parts box is when you get more into detailing and scratch building you may be able to find something that works perfect or will with a little fine tuning.

now flocking is a very very fine material that is used to make carpeting it adds a very nice touch the interior of the car i personaly get mine from www.detailmaster.com hope this helps happy modeling

seems I was confused i thought parts boxes were those bonus accessory kits a person could buy for a certain model. realistic decals ect. but now i know that all my dad's old model kits from the eighties beat-up and half put together are now my parts boxes. i've looked at the few i have as a build one day but with no directions and such I just might have to scrap em for parts only.
thanks hogmodule for the time and the website suggestion for flocking is a great one.

Hey gratch73a
that third link was very helpful in proper techinques and tips of applying flocking

I thank both of you
take careBig Smile
