make your own shag carpet
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 14, 2005 3:49 PM
All you need is a pair of scissors and an old sock.

1. cut a square of the fabric.

2. lay the square in the interior tub.

3. cut to shape you would like. (make sure that the inside of the sock is up)

4. glue in.

5. paint.

It's that easy!

Thanks AlienHead! This would be a good idea for the inside of vans too where people like to carpet the sides and floor with really thick shag carpet! Good Idea!

Gosh, tried it, but my nylon knee-length socks just didn't work. Perhaps you need to be more specific on the genre of the sock.

Very cool tip! Big Smile

If I may expand a bit on it, you could also dye the sock ahead of time...a little RIT dye and water, and dye the sock to the desired color/shade, then cut and glue in place.

This is an interesting idea. May have to give it a try, if I rehab an old van.
