Semi-Scratch a model Car !
Posted by oldcarguy on Monday, April 18, 2016 3:54 PM

Okay let's see how this goes over . NO pics again . But the seeding of an idea and the specification of the seed car .There are four .

One-1956 - Monogram 56 Chevrolet 2dr.H.T.

Two - 1956 - AMT Ford Crown Victoria

Three - 1958 - AMT Chevrolet Impala 2 dr H.T.

Four - 1970s - AMT Buick Riviera .

Now , here's where it gets interesting .You will need wire wheels from the AMT Cobra . You'll need to get the engine from the AMT AVANTI kit. You'll be using the turbocharger on this .

The whole body and the interior will be built from scratch using sheet plastic and bits and pieces you choose to use .You can make it a full fendered rod ,a full bodied modern car or go wild .I am just curious as to what some of you will come up with .The Engine and wheels are Not negotiable .These parts Must be used !

Can you do it ? This old phart would like to see if you are up to it . Maybe we can get someone from the mag or a model club to judge the photos and find a winner in Classic , Custom , Street , and Race .

I would suggest posting the photos here in a reply post .Three photos , or four are recommended .Drivers side rear and front and under the hood , oops , five , show us the interior too ! Do you want to do it ? Aw C'mon  O.C.G.    P.S. The seed car is your choice . There Must be something left to identify the donor .

Is this a Community Build Project?

Hey , B.T.D. !

I guess it could be  . I threw out this idea to see if there would be any takers . I think ( oops , I do to much of that ! ) The results would be interesting .Group Build , Fine , but I still can't show mine .Computer stupid , you might say .  O.C.G.     P.S. Your address under your avatar says Cape Coral , Florida . Did you know that many years ago I cut my Construction teeth , and canals in that development ?

OCG, nice idea but kinda' pricey. this would involve more than $100.00 before you could think about buying the scratch building materials. "YIPES" Trainwreck.

I really don't understand these rules. Maybe if you changed them, you may get more takers. Personally, I don't want to build a model that will have the same wheels and engine that everyone else's model will. Seeing the same engine and wheels on every model will get boring quick.
