"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". What might be the best paper for one modeler might be the worst for another modeler.

To me, they are pretty much the same, although I prefer the Bare Metal Foil products (white & clear) and use Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating 1303 as a sealant.

I ordered 3 sheets of the Bare Foil Metal Decal Paper going to give it a try the white seems to work best for me the Clear wants to either smudge or even the colors come off in my water ?

How long do you allow the ink to dry? I generally wait 24 hours before applying the sealer, then 24 hours before I put the decals in water.

What are you using to seal the decals?

Hi

I use the Micro Set and Micro Sol to seal the decals and I usually wait around 18 to 24hrs before applying my decals. The White paper doesn't run or fade it's only the clear that I'm having trouble with the colors have a halo look on them before I even touch them and then putting them in water with a little Dawn detergent maybe a drop of Dawn and the color seems to just disappear from the decal almost like disappearing ink does I've had this problem with all clear film I've bought ?

Micro Set and Micro Sol are intended for applying decals, not sealing them.

You need to apply a clear finish over the printed decal before immersing it in water. Scroll up and you'll see the Krylon that I use.

I've never been told that and I research most all of what I do I've always just used either Micro Set and Sol or actually just put the decal on a then covered with sealer.. Thanks so much this is what I love about this magazine and it's site you will learn things that even Google will not teach you Thanks Mike

I ordered some from a company on line a while back. It's 8.5 X 11 sheets. It works pretty good. It was around a dollar a sheet. Like BTD I use Krylon acrylic as a sealer. When I ordered it the company offered a package with 10 sheets of white and 10 sheets of clear. A 20 pack goes a long way. I make interior patterns with it. Just print a large section with the pattern you want. Put masking tape over the seat and trace the section of the seat you want to cover. Take the tape off and stick it to the decal pattern and cut out to fit your seats. After applying and when dry coat the area with satin clear and you have custom seat covers.
