a question
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 11, 2003 10:10 PM
i just started building again, and I had never used an airbrush before and now it seems like that is the way everyone is doing it these days. Im just curious and maybe its a deumb question but does anybody still paint by brush? Obviously not for the body, but what about interiors and engine, etc...

hi caseyn5, yea , i still use the 'old' brushes for my interior work, i had an airbrush a few years ago, it was very cheap and did not last very long, so now i'm back to using the rattle cans. i hope to get another airbrush someday.DisapproveDisapprove

I still use a brush for interiors and detail accents. I've used an airbrush and the oldrattle cans as needed for the colors I've wanted. Why go through the trouble of mixing for the airbrush when it's already in a can? I think we build to satisfy ourselves.any of my pieces maynot be "contest" quality, but I'm happy with them. Ain't that what it's all about?Welcome back to the hobby, I hope it's as much fun as before, if not more so WOLF Big SmileSmile,Wink, & GrinSmile,Wink, & Grin

HEY,
If i had an airbrush, i would only use it for the body. The rest of the peices are too small to waste the time to mix the paint and clean the airbrush.

Sign - DittoSign - DittoSign - Ditto I have never had the urge to enter any contests either. I build for myself. It makes me happy and keeps me busy. Smile

I only use a brush for details and washes. For engines, undercarriage and interior I normally use rattle cans (primer, Ford blue, Chevy orange, semi and flat black, etc) for minimal prep and cleanup. AB for custom mix colors and nail polish.
