paint thinners?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 8:56 PM
Do I need to use different thinners if I am painting with lacquers and enamels? I am getting ready to use nail polish which is basically a lacquer right? Or not right? Could I get away with using the same thinner as my enamels?

Different thinners are needed. Use nail polish remover for your nail polish. Enamel thinner just won't work.

I'm hopelessly addicted to building models. Not finishing them, just building them.

Best to stick to what's made specifically for each type of paint, although acrylic lacquer thinner will also work with enamels and acrylics.

Well I decided to risk it. I looked more carefully a bottle of finger nail polish and it was enamel. So my enamel thinner worked just fine. Thanks guys!
