Wax

I am putting the final touches on a Tamiya, Cooper S.  In order to attach the hood (bonnet) hinges, Tamiya suggested to hold the hood in place with clear tape while installing the hinges.  I used a low-tack tape, but when I removed the tape, it left a residue.  This is where I most likely messed up.  To remove the residue, I used a low % alcohol pad.  Needless to say, it removed the residue along with the paint shine.  I do not intend to shoot a clear coat over the nearly assembled automobile.  Perhaps a suitable wax / polish to bring back the shine in the small areas affected?  Any suggestions, or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I use Novus #2 to restore shine on my paint.
