Lacquer Thinner Substitute
Posted by IBuild1/48 on Friday, July 10, 2020 12:31 PM

I have a bottle of Model Master Custom Lacquer, 28007 Chrysler Engine Red that I want to use vs disposing of.

However the thinner recommned Custom Lacquer thinner No. 28016 is not available unline.

So as to not hold up this project is there a recommended alternative?

Hardware store lacquer thinner will work. Or for that matter any automotive paint shop can supply you with lacquer thinner. I thin everything but urethane with either. Keep in mind the hardware store one is mid temp (ish) in flash time. They have long or shorter if needed at the auto paint supply.
