Acrylic Paints
Posted by Manifoldhead on Saturday, April 4, 2020 11:49 AM

Hi All,

has anybody obtained good results on a nice shiny finish using acrylics? I would love to buy something like Vallejo airbrush ready paint and just shoot it on and clean up with water instead of laquer thinner.

I'm new to the hobby and probably naive but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks.

I believe most Velejo acrylics are flat. Like AK, MIG, and others, these paints were developed (at least initially) for military (ground & air) modelers. You will need to clearcoat them. Gunze Mr Color acrylics are glossy, but not high gloss. Can't remember what the craft acrylics I've used were like - if I had to clearcoat them or not.
