Old Timey Pactra paint
Posted by ditdah54 on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 5:36 AM

I have been away a long time, but one of my favorite colors was Pactra "Candy Apple Red" it used a gold base coat. If you are that old, can you give me the closest things to this color in the new world?

Thanks, Ed

Give Tamiya clear red a shot. I have also found that plain old Testors dark red #1104 airbrushed over a gold base makes a nice candy red.

Testors also does a candy apple red in a spray can, though I haven't tried it.

Thank you, I have a Hobby Town and they didn't have the Testors but I will try your suggestion.

G'day Ed,  You could try a clear red over a gold base, have a look at Tamiya Titanium Gold, it has a 'softer' look than their Gold Leaf.  Cheers

Thank you Steve, sounds just like what I will try. All the best, Ed.
