I am building a replica of my friend's families '65 Chev Impala in Evening Orchid just like the box top. His father remembers that the vinyl top was done by the dealer in a similar fashion to Marcos's article by using textured paint. My question is: Would the dealer have added strips like we modelers or not and just left the roof smooth? The old family pictures don't show the roof from an angle to tell.

Thanks for any assistance

I had a '66 Caprice with the spray on top. It did have the seams. But, they weren't as visible as a factory vinyl top. To me, it looked like they just lapped the paint.

Gentlemen, could I use this quote/conversation in our upcoming issue's Shop Talk?

Fine with me but the important one is Plowboy as he had the response. LOL
