Rubber tires turning white?
Posted by Ronald McDaniel on Monday, March 25, 2019 12:14 PM

Hope someone can help.

I have a bunch of Mr. Model tire / wheel multimedia kits I picked up from Detail Master a couple years ago.

I'm getting ready to finish up a project of mine using one of these sets and I notice the rubber tires keep turning white'ish in color.

If you rub them with your finger they seems to go back to being black (black'ish).

I scrubbed the crap out of them using toothpaste and soap a few months back and although it helped they eventually are turning back to the white'ish color.

The other tires in the Mr. Model kits that I did not wash are terribly white and powdery looking.

So the washing helped a bit, but does anyone know why it keeps happening?

I dont want to put them on the car only to have them turn white again with age.

Any way to prevent it from happening again? Something I can put on them?

Any help would be appreciated!

Try Armor-All the "low shine" type I think that will take care of your problem, and you'll be happy!
