Slap Style Traction Bars
Posted by Stangfreak2 on Saturday, February 09, 2019 9:53 AM

Remember the good ole Lakewood traction bars that clamped onto the leaf springs?          I came up with these ez~makes made from strip styrene modelers plastic and a paperclip... The first set on the bronze Stang are kind of the universal style made to fit about any car... The second set are a more detailed set made to fit a specific make of car that had the shock mounts attached. I cut the shock mounts from the rear end piece and glued them to the fabricated traction bars on the blue Stang... They really do add some cool detail for those street cars of the 60s and 70s...

With a bit of Plastruct "T" beam and some yellow paint, I equipped most of my builds in the 80s with these traction bars. Not quite as nice as yours, but they really add a cool and prominant detail for muscle cars, 1/4 mile warriors, etc.

Cool detail, thanks for posting.

Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
