Blown head gasket or something else?
Posted by NoelBlakley on Monday, July 2, 2018 1:43 AM

I was driving across the country for a new job and the truck overheated. I checked the coolant and I forgot to top up coolant, it was completely empty. (my fault) .So I pulled over and let it cool down and put in plenty of coolant, and I poured some water over the engine to cool it down some more to speed up the process a little. I see there is a crack in the radiator hose. I drove a little bit, maybe 1/2 a mile and oddly enough the battery starts dying on me. I dont know if it was because of the hazards or what but it starts dying. AAA comes and gives me a boost and the truck starts when plugged into an external battery source (so not an alternator problem) but after 2 minutes running the battery dies. My guess to the problem: I need a new battery and to fix the radiator hose crack. What one shop has told me so far: I need new battery and radiator hose and I blew my head gasket.Blown head gasket is obviously very pricy so I would love y'all to give me your opinion. There is no water in the oil so Im inclined to think it might not be a blown gasket but I'm not an expert.

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Hey Noel Blakley, you seem to know very little about anything. why don't you spend a little money and have someone fix all your cars right? I'd suggest you refer to animated explainer video production studio for a service center in your area. Oh yeah,,, you're as low as a snakes azz, have a great day.

I agree the guy said he poured water onto a hot engine to speed up the process of cooling down I highly doubt it had the effect that he was wanting for one. He had to pour coolant in that should have been clued number one that there was a leak. You notice a crack in the radiator hose so why not take the hose if you was on the side of the street or just replace the hose it's like about anywhere from a 10 to $30 fix depend on year make and model. Battery starts dying and with AAA coming out hooking up to an outside Source that's not an alternator issue? If the car is running in the battery is dying that means there is an issue with an alternator cuz it's not doing his job by keeping the battery charged and keeping the car from running off the. In fact depending on how old the battery is it wouldn't have just starting to die unless you was running a bunch of accessories like AC radio head lights Etc. Shop told him that he needs a battery and a radiator hose, well first they are right but he's also needing an alternator. I could go on but if they are going to spam this forum at least make it sound somewhat intelligent.
