white plastic washer bottles?
Posted by TerryB on Monday, April 11, 2016 3:23 PM

I am building a 66 Impala and was wanting to know , how do i make the clear plastic washer bottle that comes in the kit look like the translucent white that the factory uses?

Any help would be apprecaited.

Thanks in advance.

For the washer tank on my Mopar models, I scuff the outside of the reservoir with 400 grit sandpaper. I paint the inside with flat white (gloss would work, too). I used a wash of "dirty thinner" on the outside to give the appearance of age and use. You could skip this step and apply flat clear to the outside instead if you are going for the "showroom fresh" look. Experiment on a scrap piece of clear styrene to get the exact effect you want. Hope this helps.

I paint the lower portion with a light blue/green using enamel. After that dries, the whole container is painted with thin white in acrylic.
