Car engine, on rare occasions, dies after coming off a full
Posted by JoeClark on Monday, July 31, 2017 9:25 AM

Hello,

This has happened to me maybe 6 times over the past 10 months and wonder what is happening.Clearly something I could NOT expect service to figure out because it happens so rarely.

On more than one occasion, after coming to a full stop for a red light or stop sign, I hit the gas (leasurely, not WOT) and the engine dies. The left LCD says I am in accessories mode. I have to put the car in park and push engine start, put back into drive and off I go. and it happens so rarely I cannot understand what could possibly be happening.I even checked the Automobile Engine Video ,but that didnt help.

I am not doing anything different, same stop signs or red lights, same roads I usually travel and for no apparent reason the car gives up the ghost. When it happens with cars behind me I have to scramble to get back in the game.

Anyone else come up with this kind of behavior? any suggestions.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

First off, this is a forum for model cars not 1:1. But I'll give this a shot. It sounds as if the engine is choking out. It does not sound like a fuel delivery issue, but an aspiration issue. You may want to get the carbs or injectors cleaned (not sure which you have) and then make sure the air/fuel mix is set properly. A new air filter is probably a go as well. These are just my thoughts, as you have not provided any information other than it's a car. What type of car? What engine?

My favorite color is clear. I am also ambidexterous, I can screw up equally well with either hand. I am 53 years old and been building for most of that time. :)

You're exactly right. Over the past couple of months I have used the "Report Abuse" page to report 3 or 4 different SPAMMERs on here. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have gotten any response or reply. Not sure why. I will say that as long as Jim Haught was still around it only took one report to get a post jerked.

And don't get me wrong. I'm not supporting or ragging anybody in particular. I'm simply stating a fact. Period.

So you're saying changing his blinker fluid won't help?

Not sure, but it sounds like his muffler bearings are dry and need to be regreased.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

Probably stale air in the tires.  Needs to let it all out and put fresh in.

It actually sounds like the passenger side armrest may have shorted out. if that's the case, he probably needs to change the radio station and top off the radiator with a splash of freon. that should get him fixed right up.

That's on me guys! I totally forgot to ask what scale he was working with! For example: A 1/25th scale armrest should be tuned to 99.6 while a 1/24th armrest should be tuned to the other side of the glove box... fm. Be aware that any non factory adjustments will void your map light warranty and could leave you liable to ridicule.

Well, he didnt tell what make of car it was. GM front wheel drive cars have solenoid that kicks in when driving to get a little better gas mileage. It can be disconnected from the trans pretty easily, and that wll solve the problem. my ex-wifes car did the same thing.

He should disconnect the Jhonson rod and drive around backwards with the top down for a few miles..... that should fix the "bumper" problem.... that was the problem ... right...?

I have a buddy who runs a model tow truck service. He says business is great, but the people he has to deal with seem sort of plastic and fake.
