Checkered Flooring Tip
Posted by Orthian on Monday, June 30, 2014 9:09 AM

Hey guys,

I dont normally post tips and how to's as I am a novice builder but I discovered something cool and wanted to share it. I was looking for flooring for my display case, i was at Walmart trying to find like drawer lining, then discovered all of their new Duck tape's with all kinds of designs and colors. I noticed they had checker. $4.97 later i was home laying it down and it actually looks pretty close to scale and has a nice finish, I am pretty happy with it so far.

That's a great tip!! Even though it isn't a tutorial per se, why not add it to the tutorial collection I started?

Good idea with the checkerboard duct tape. Many years ago when I acquired my curio cabinet to display my models there was checkerboard self stick shelving paper available and I used it for the bottom shelf, but rather than stick it on the shelf itself which would become permanent, I took a piece of foam board and covered it with the paper, therefore leaving the cabinet itself in pristine condition.

Most craft stores carry 12'x12' checkerboard paper used for scrap booking. I like the Duct tape idea.
