I gamey!

One of the other forums has asked this and I was wondering what direction it will go. If we pick a certain kit, then we may just end up with a line of different colored bikes. Hmmm, not much variety there. What were you thinking Ron?

Might be better to go with a newer model that we can all get. I agree about the variety factor. Maybe it would be better to nominate a bike like the NSR500 or the new RC211V and leave it that. At least there are a couple of liveries to pick from without going to Studio 27 decals. In the RC211 there is Rossi's and Katos (couldn't spell Katos team mates name), Other alternative is just throw it open to either competition or road bikes. Any thoughts?

Good question.............and I'd love to join in.
I presume the generally accepted model will be a 1/12 scale Tamiya?
I've got their Ducati MHR, 916, 888, '98 Repsol NSR500, CUp Noodle NSR250, Kenny Roberts YZR500, Yamaha YZR500R street bike, Yamaha FZR750 OW01, GSX1100 custom, and a Yamaha XV1000 Virago - all waiting to be built.
A little problem I have is that life gets in the way and I don't build quite as quickly as I'd like.......
Whattaya think?

Hey guys, like i said, i never built a larger scale bike, and i'm new to the motorcycle scene, i just started riding this past summer......

I just asked if you guys would like to do a build, basically so you guys can teach me the ins and outs of building one!!!!

You decide what to build, and just tell me what to buy!!!!

Can we keep the price under 70 bucks????

is there PE kits for bikes??

Hi Littlemoe.
I'm keen if we start after the middle of January as thats when I get my modelling stuff out of storage after moving.
We need to make a decision on what to build and we need to keep it simple so may I suggest to all that we build a Tamiya Race Bike.
I have suggested a race bike so that we all have a little variety and so that we can all learn from each other if any problems with a particular kit are encountered.
I have a Tech3 YZR 500 Yamaha and a NSR500 Honda while my son is getting a Rossi RC211 Honda tomorrow for xmas so we have 2 ready to go.
As for photoetch parts yes they are available from Studio27 and Museum Collection.

Lets just leave the kit open. I will build the Tech3 Yamaha and help my son with the Rossi RC211 Honda. The kits are a little more difficult than a car to build but they are all of similiar construction so the particular bike won't matter. I have a Doohan NSR500 half built that I can use for reference to help and my best mate has a collection of bike models and kits like you have never seen so anything we need to know we can just ask. I will tell him about the group build and I am sure he will be in as well.

Tamiya bike kits are the bomb, and you really don't need to use a PE aftermarket kit to make them look good. The level of detail, correct proportions, and ease of construction make these babies a joy to build! My sugestion is to build 'em box stock and detail the kit supplied parts with paint and some additional wiring, and possibly some aftermarket decals.

I dunno about you boys, but sometimes I buy so much stuff to build the "perfect" model, I end up wrapped around the axle and never get the dang thing built! Big Smile
