I was hoping to find her a cheap sport bike or a nice standard, but for $500, I figured I couldn't pass it up.

The 83 Nighthawk series were all pretty decent bikes. Not exactly road burners but that's not what you were looking for. A friend of mine had a 750 and it was a nice "weekend" bike. Was a heck of alot more user friendly than my old 83 interceptor.

But then I didn't get the Interceptor because it was user friendly either.

I cant believe this but I’m thinking of building a............................ er.................................. um.......................... Harley!
Yup you heard it an agricultural motorcycle, two-wheel tractor!!
I have an urge to build a 'rat bike' springer front, hard tail, knucklehead motor, and suicide shift matt black with white walls!
I just don’t believe it but its something I really want to do!!
Oh the shame.................

I feel your pain, Doc. I have managed to avoid building one, but I do have a few diecasts in my 1:18 scale bike collection. But I have an excuse. I live in Milwaukee! I've done work for Harley. I had the 100th anniversary party literally in my front yard (the first night block party was in my neighborhhod and many partygoers felt it necessary to hang out on my porch).

Now, now Doc. That's Ok don't worry about it. Harley's are rather stylish. When you get the urge to push... er... I mean ride one, THAT's when you need to worry. CoolWhistlingLaughLaugh

New to the forums...

I ride more than I build. I've become more of a model kit collector (something I swore I'd never be!) since I don't have much time at the moment for building. Too many full-scale projects.

As for motorcycles, I ride a 1997 Honda Valkyrie (6-cylinder) Cool and a 2002 Boss Hoss 32 Roadster Trike (Chevy V8). Big Smile I'm also building a 1972 Triumph Tiger hardtail chop. In addition to that, I'm building a 1964 Pontiac Tempest Safari Wagon street machine! Like I said, too many projects! Smile

My next scale model project is to combine the Polar Lights '64 GTO with the new Revell '66 Chevelle wagon to replicate the Tempest in 1/25 scale.

Now, i don't build bike models, but i built a mini bike. don't laugh, its fun!

5 hp tecumseh (195 cc) and car brakes on a disk. pretty cool. called "handful". was going to name her "bodacious" but too many hicks took that from me.

That's like a bike model, say, 1:3? A group of my motorcycling friends are talking about building them and holding winter races in an underground garage to keep busy while the bikes (er, 1:1 bikes) are hibernating.

I think mine is close to 1:3. it's purely homebuilt and just borrowed ideas. we didn't use any bike frame ideas. we made our own shocks. its ford red w/ black fenders, black seat and red rims. we used turf wheel barrow tires. and we have car brakes on it!

Awesome! Do you have any pics of your creation? They're always more cool when you can build them from scratch.

I've been riding since 1968, first real scoot was a Hodaka Wombat, then a Yamaha 125. Used to sneak dad's BSA out at night, wish I still had that one!LOL.
Had a '74 Yamaha TX500, rode it to Seattle from St. Louis in '76. Left it there and acquired a '71 Sportster in Oceanside Ca. Rode it back to the 'Lou and it never ran "right" againWink.
14 years riding a '82 Honda 650 and many cross country trips prompted the current ride, a '95 BMW R100RT. Old airheads never die they just go farther!

Now with pics!

Rode professionally for the PD '82,'83,'84. Being the FNG first solo was a '74 HD, complete with kick starter. Finally got a Kawasaki in mid '83. Can you say 4th gear wheelies!

WOW Wayne 1974 Harleys! Try a 56! With a warped front rim and siren that spun from the wheel...just like a bicycle generator! Can you imagine...WRRrrrRRRRrrr as you were going down the road!
I started with a new 73 Kawasaki 500, a succesion of 500, 550 and 750 Hondas each year of the 70's until 1980..my first Goldwing...haven't left yet! This one is my favorite and my 4th..a 97 SE Interstate.

My 1980 that I bought in February of 80, found that I was leaving the SO for the PD, so took May through October as a paid vacation and put 36,000 miles on it touring the lower 48 the entire time! Imagine being 24, being paid to ride the entire country! I sold it for a new 1981 Interstate in November 1980 and only lost $400!

Boy this came back from the dead !!
I still have the chopped 75 Sporty I talked about 2 pages (and 3 years )ago but now it shares garage space with my 2007 FLHTC Electraglide Classic. I got 5600 miles on he bagger and 1200 on the Sporty this season so it was a fairly good year.
Wheres my #$%^@# bailout??

I'll bite, even though mine are in cold storage til spring. 72 Honda cb350(not running), 73 Honda CB 750 pretty stock and nice, I put 10,000 miles on it in two summers, then got my 74 CB750 chopper on the road, painted it, got rid of the cheesy apehanger bars(after I took the pic), and put around 6000 miles in a summer and a half. I just can't get enough, my wife and my 11 yr old son love to ride too. Now I am in the middle of fixing some minor things and doing a cosmetic restoration on my 73. I was looking for a 73 Kawasaki Z-1 when I found my 750's, and I'm glad I got these, dead reliable and I got a smokin deal on the pair. Ride on!

It's winter again but I can't wait for spring to get out for a ride and out of the cage LOL. Here's my 2000 Honda CBR 600 with a bit of motor work, nitrous, airshifted, newer modded swingarm and it now has all the suspension done.

And just before I put her away for the winter, the finishing on the Rothmans paint scheme will have to wait until spring.

Cheers, Mike.

Currently riding a 2003 BMW K1200 LT (light truck). Bought for me by an elderly Canadian couple who decided to do a U turn in front of me. Before that was a 2002 Suzuki Vstrom; before that a 96 Honda 600 Shadow.

nice bikes folks.
