Getting this nice shiny pipe all dirty was hard to do. However, I am going by your wishes Andy. lol Its funny how I am looking under bikes now instead of at them from the top or side. What I can't get over is how new the tires look and I slathered them with a brown wash.

I had to paint the inside of the faring black. What a long, tedious and not very well done job that was and is. I am hoping big time that the decals will wrap around the edges on a lot of this.

You would think some things would be so obvious. The very bottom of the faring where the decal stops should have been painted in red. I realized this after I put the lower half on and had a nice white stripe along there and when I tried to take that lower half off to remedy that I broke the little middle locating pin. So not only did I have to paint the red on there but I also have to drill a new hole in there and glue a short little pin in there. aarrgghhh

I'm going to pretend that this thing has been driven back and forth between Grand Forks and who knows where in all kinds of weather and thats why its so dirty.

You can see the nice white little pin on this side that I broke off the other side. ( the bike almost looks too clean in this shot ) lol

That bike stand was a hassle compared to the rest of the build. I couldn't get rid of the join lines without a lot of glue and bondo and then I managed to break it!  Finally got it. Brush painted silver, rubber cement applied in judicious places and brush painted orange. Pulled off the rubber cement and then dirtied it up with various washes.

So after these pics I need to drill a hole and get the locator pin in and hopefully not break anything in the process.

I took some more close-ups just to show the weathering and the excellent details in this kit. I could only imagine what one of these kits with all the wiring added would look like.

This is one place where I wish I coulda had a do-over. The cover plates on the inside of the faring running along that top edge should have been glued in place before I painted the inside black. Drat!

Sharp bike build, Mike, good detailing and finishing overall, and your rear stand looks very authentic with its subtle wear and tear showing through.  Cheers

Thanks guys. I think I will always find bike models to be intimidating but I sure like the end results. It looks good in my cabinet and I don't wanna give it back!   lol
