Honda CBR 400
Posted by XRLENT on Saturday, September 01, 2012 5:57 PM

Hey all,

Here is a box stock build of the Tamiya CBR 400 I did a few years back. It was my first bike that i purchased just because it was cheap. I was hooked on bikes every since and plan to build more. I love the detail on these kits and the usual perfection from Tamiya.

Sorry for the background clutter. I will post clearer pics of the final soon.

You can see more build pics here

Thanks for looking Big Smile

Very nice xrlent, I will have to get one of these Tamiya bike kits one day. If only they did a VFR800.  Cheers

Thanks Steve. They are Definatly worth building, a lot of fun and different from cars. I don't think tamiya make one. But I'm sure fujimi does. But I've never done one of their bikes so not sure if they are as good as the tamiya. Maybe someone else can comment and let us know.

Thanks for the info, xrlent. I had a look at the Fujimi bike listings, found they have a late 90's VFR800 done as a police bike. It's very different to my '03 bike in the fairings, lights, pipes, etc.  I've decided I'll look for one of the racing Hondas as ridden by Gardner or Doohan.  Fingers crossed Tamiya will do a Stoner Ducati one day.  Cheers

Fujimi does a VFR800 police bike.  I built it earlier this year and made a number of modifications to turn it into a Honda 50th anniversary edition street bike.  You can see the description and photos at http://www.eajonesgue.com/scalemodels/HondaVFR800.html

The kit is not really great value - tires are plastic!, lots of parts are molded together (e.g. frame and body), there is a lack of detail, no cables, etc.  However, if you must have a VFR800, it's the only choice available.

G'day Evan and thanks for the info.  The kit bike is so different from the one I ride I will give it a miss.

Thanks for your link, I had a quick look at a few of your builds, your Le Mans Porsches in particular are very impressive.  Cheers
