1/24 1/25 Motorcycle kits
Posted by dieseldoc on Thursday, January 01, 2004 1:05 AM
To start with I am mainly a heavy truck modeler, but i saw a picture of a over the road truck that I want to model. On the backof the truck was a Harley in a custom carrier with a winch set up to get it off of the truck . My question is are there any kit manufactures the make 1/25-24 scale Harley kits? A trip to my local hobby shop resulted in crotch rockets in this scale only.

Maisto has released a flock of 1/25th scale Harley diecast bikes. About the only things made of white metal are the engine/tranny and the fuel tank. The rest is plastic. These can be detailed quite nicely. They were available at Wally World and Home Hardwares here in Canada. They're also cheap.
It would probably look quite impressive slung in behind a bunk.

I believe Revell did a kit of the Ford F-150 HD Special that came with a 1/25 Harley. MIght have been a Sportster, though. Do a google search and you'll find it on the web.

For those of you who like Motorcycle , Heller have a serie of F1 Bikes in 1/24 scale. They are challenging to built but the result is fantastic. The other challenge is to find them! I was able to grab them in Montreal at Udisco for $5.00 (cad). Check Heller website for more information http://www.hellerjoustra.com/default_uk.htm

I saw those Heller kits in a hobby shop in Edmonton.
They wanted $10 CAN each and there were three of them: Honda, Yamaha and a Suzuki.
Might just have to take a closer look (even at that price).

Once upon a time....back in the late 70's/early 80's anyway, there was a company ,I think
it was Union, that made 1/25 scale mc kits. I remember building a Norton Commando, Triumph Trident, Suzuki gs 750 (The waterbuffalo...) Honda cb750, and even a Harley of some kind. The kits were OK, and I've seen them up for sale somethimes, although at a bit more than the ca. $1.25 I paid for them then....

They are also released by Airfix. There are 7 of these kits that I know of. Five are 500GP bikes - 1 Suzuki, 2 Yamahas, and 2 Hondas. There are also 2 MotoGP bikes - a Honda and a Ducati. I got most of mine from eBay or Hannants (http://www.hannants.co.uk/) in the UK.

Hasegawa also produced (still produces?) 3 older (1990s) 500GP kits that are slightly more detailed and contain some photoetched parts. One is a Yamaha and 2 are Hondas. Hobbylink Japan (www.hlj.com) sometimes stocks them.

Don't forget the bikes that came with the car kits. The cherry bomb has a panhead chopper and a MPC "golden wheels" monte carlo has a honda chopper with it. The cherry bomb can be picked up on evil bay for 10 to 15 bucks but the monte kit with the honda is collectable and goes for 50+. There's not much as far as detail goes but a good starting point for a custom build.

A chopper came with the "Cherry Bomb" show rod. I have two of them. They are rather plain but I'm using them to kitbash my own custom trikes. I buy the toy Maisto and other bikes at WalMart for use of their parts, front forks mainly.

I'm building a yamaha chopper ( I know) out of the batcycle in 1/25th scale. The detail is pretty lacking. I've been checking out other 1/25th bikes around the internet and ebay. Not a real big selection. i found a glue bomb monte Carlo with the chopper for $10 ebay. Hope I get it! The Cherry bomb's gone through the roof here lately.

KDmitry, Holy motor bikes! I had no idea there were that many available. I'm slowly but surely getting a few in the collection...

The first one is a chopper I made from the Batcycle. The second one is the Cherry bomb bike w/ a new tank. I also have the Honda from the Monte carlo kit and a few more. The Revell parts pack bikes come up on ebay every now and then and a few of the others. I'm only able to buy kits around the first of the month so it limits how much shopping I get to do, but it's still fun!

dunjuz_wryt  Thank you for photos. I completed only Harley and Water Craft Racer. What is the third moto, grey? I think you have Husquarna on trailer, is it? Wery surprised by Batcycle. I never see it done and was sure its a toy.

Now its in my wish list and there are 15 motocycles n it. I saw all 15 motorcycles wich I dont have yet and will post photo of them later.

6pkk I got BATPOD from HLJ. I made preorder on October and received it two weeks ago. But I think now its out of stock. By the way MOUEBIUS preparing Batman, Jocker figures and Batmobile in 1/25. They declare batmobile on 2012 and figures "coming soon"

Also we have few of Heller bikes in ordinary stores. I saw four ore five of them.

And also tehere is small scooter from Tamiya Toyota bB

which possible to make in folded

Thanks for posting all the motorcycle pics KDmitry. I really do appreciate it. My middle grey bike is the Yamaha dirt bike out of the MPC '72 Chevy stepside. The Husqvarna out of the Revell Desert Rat was missing a fork tube that I'm trying to fix, I'm just not happy with how it's turning out yet. I also appreciate your offer.

BTW, there is a link somewhere here that lists instruction sheets for kits and that's where i found the details for the Batcycle. I was surprised. I was a little more detailed than I expected. I ended up using the fairing for the tank, cut the seat way down, and fabbed a fender out of a racing slick.

Its mean we need two Polar lights Bikes-one for Batcycle and another fo regular :)

Once again I forgot bike I have

I'v think it was my first done but did not painted figure. Yamaha dirty bike From Chevy my postservice lost and now Im looking for it again. Firstly I was trying to get MPV 1976 Dodge truck kits with both YAMAHA and Suzuki but its expensive kit. And pick  up 76 not much interesting  for me. I already got deal with my friend to devide kit but then found much cheeper Dodge and Chevy which are more interesting as pick ups. Unfortunately received only one :( I almost done my wish list? just need to find few better pictures and will post it. Hope I can do it around weekend.

Also ther is interesting site www.motomini.com with huge collection of bikes in different scale inckludinge toys and diecast but its not working now. Thank you for attantion for my collection. Hope will have time to build it :)

I believe there may be a 1/25th scale cycle available from Replicas & Miniature of Maryland also. Has anyone checked this out?
