58 Edsel
Posted by raisin27 on Friday, December 19, 2003 3:49 PM
I recently joined a small modeling club and we decided we should each build a "box stock" model (using only parts that came in the kit except for glue, foil, and paint). I chose the 58 edsel from amt. Its done in factory colors of "jet black, and metalic gold. http://img6.photobucket.com/albums/v19/amazinraisin27/P1010427.jpg http://img6.photobucket.com/albums/v19/amazinraisin27/P1010422.jpg

That Edsel looks great. I have two in the closet to build. One kit has fender skirts and continental kit.The other is a $4.94 kit from Walmart.

You might guess I love those photgraphic angles you got there!
I did not find mine was very photogenic, but those colors really photgraph well.

Nice to know I didn't waste my breath..err...fingers.....thowing some tips out there.
So what do you and the rest you guys think about the results?
For me it gives the models a better feel for what they are.....a replica of a 1:1.
Like I said, I try and get shots that make the 1:1 interesting, like in magazines.

I think you captured the look really well! Try some of these angles with those beaters and those great backgrounds you have for them, I'd like to see how that looks too!

Its been awhile since I built mine, but I don't recall fit problems. The "Edsel Curse" loomed with me through the paint job though!!

All in all i thought it was a pretty decent kit...I did have one heck of a time installing the steering box and lower radiator hose though Banged Head Seems like every model has one or two parts that just dont like me !.............Raisin

Nice Model. I checked out your post because i just finished my own AMT 58 Edsel model today. I painted the body flat black with a black and silver interior. I tried to make it look like it was about 90% restored, you know? I may post a few pictures later on. Keep it up!
