Posted by FIREMODELMAN on Monday, January 26, 2004 12:38 AM
i guess this would be the right place to put this?? i'm building the johan 68 plymouth fury for a CBP in a couple days, question one... was the engine a 318 or a 360?? i know for sure its a small block , just dont know which one??
question two.. what color should it be?? i have seen a couple of photos of actual 68s from the chigago pd. one good photo shows the engine done in a funky green?? was this a plymouth color, or was it for a certain engine?? i've seen them in blue as well?? i'm so confused, someone please help.ConfusedConfused

Not to shure on 68 Fury but i had a 72 Fury from my Grandfather that had the 360 2x4 bbl car with long skirts on it and that one was a ugly green motor. But man i wish i had it back it was the last 2x4 stock motor that they did and it was wicked fast for a 4 door car. Wish i could help more on this.

Well, just so happens I worked in a Chrysler dealer for 14 years, and this is right up my alley.Big Smile

If ya got a small block V8, it was the 318. The 340 and 360 were not offered in the Fury in '67 or '68. The next size up was the 383 big block. The Chrysler part number is 4349217 for Mopar branded Chrysler engine blue. In fact, the blue was used until '83 when it was discontinued for black. In '67 some were still red, and this would be part number 4349218, and is a orangish red color

Hope this helps!!!!

edit:: Oh, the only green that I know of is a kinda turquoise green color that was used on big blocks from '62 to '71, and the LA 340s in '69 only.
