AMT '69 Buick Riviera
Posted by amt68 on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 4:07 PM

AMT 1/25 scale '69 Riviera painted in Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green with added AMT whitewalls. Used the box stock finned wheel discs which I will blackwash on future builds of this model.

G'day amt68.  I like this one as well, nice and clean build, beautiful paint colour, and your foil work is really neat.  Cheers

Thanks Steve, this was a fun build and I added an extra picture that shows some of the dash detail. And actually this isn't foil work it's Testors Chrome Silver paint for the molding details. I admire the modelers who do BMF but I simply don't have the hand for it and I'm happy with the chrome silver paint.

Wow another simply stunning build. So crisp and clean. Once again, perfect color choice for the era. I actually think the chrome silver paint is cleaner and crisper than foil. You got me thinking now for my future builds !! Your work is outstanding by the way and the models you build are excellent choices for us factory stock guys !!! My next project after the holidays will be the Joe Mannix Dodge Dart. Involved yes but worth it, as he was one of my heros as a teenager !!!

Thanks again American. My builds are fairly clean and neat but my skills will never compare to top notch modelers. But I do enjoy challenging myself to do better each time. Chevy in 1969 had a Frost Green that I always liked and this Tamiya paint was a good approximate. I have on the bench a '70 Monte Carlo also sprayed in this color. I've seen on ebay in recent months a Joe Mannix Oldsmobile roadster. I've only seen a couple episodes of that show so I'm not familiar with his rides.

Thank you. I feel it best to stay within my abilities and not try and do more than I'm capable. And yes Tamiya in general has many wonderful shades. I'm currently working on a '65 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 that I sprayed in Pearl Light Red that is comparable to an Iris Mist in terms of a period color.

After the first season, they switched to Chrysler Corp. The bad guys drove the Imperials and New Yorkers, cops the Coronet or Belvedere. He had the nice rides, first the Dodge Dart convertible for three years, then the Cuda convertibles. Great cars. Looking forward to seeing your Monte Carlo !! Gal down the street from my house had a 71 in a light metallic green and it was a great looking car !!! And I think your builds are dead on. Don't sell yourself short. Nice to see factory builds and of cars other than Mustangs, Camaro's and Firebirds !!!

Nice color and great clean looking build. Love them Buicks!

Thank you. The mid to late 60's was a great time for Buick. Recently I picked up the '70 Wildcat issued by Model King several years ago. It's another Buick body style I've always admired.

I'll have to check out the old Mannix episodes. The AMT '70 Monte Carlo I have is a highly detailed kit so it should build nicely.
