74 Cadillac
Posted by arcturus on Monday, February 26, 2018 5:17 AM

This has a had a hard life. I bought it about 13 years ago off ebay looking quite sorry for itself. I restored it but then the roof got broken in 3 places, so I chucked it in  a box to be restored later. 10 years later I decided to restore it after sitting in a box with no paint, broken rear bumper, broken roof,  and missing hood ornament and steering wheel.
I used the rear bumper off a 75 as it's vertually the same, and scratch built a window pillar and hood ornamant and steering wheel. The door mirror is from Modelhaus.

Nice save on this old barge. It looks surprisingly good in red. I never cared at all for these things in my younger days, but I must say that time has been kind to the design. She's looking good in her old age.

Weigh anchor and hoist the sails. Ensign, you have the helm. Steady as she goes until beyond the harbour marker, then set a course for warmer climes.

I love these barges, I wish it was still available. I've got some ideas for them,  including a convertible and an El Camino conversion.

Yours just makes me 'jones' for them even more. Nice Save!

How I miss JoHan kits....I recall in the late 70's riding the bus downtown to the hobby shop (which is still there), being able to buy a new JoHan kit for $5 or so. Does anyone have a time machine I can borrow? Big Smile

Wow, a gorgeous restoration and save. Bravo !! I bought one on ebay several years ago as well and did mine in beige with a medium brown top like Cadillac had early on. Wish JoHan was still around and these cars as well !!

No issue for the same "I don't have to follow any rules" individuals . I don't have problems resucing derilicts . I don't care if I devalue my Car Model . Excellent restoration , you do nice work . Re-sale red so right for this one . "Where's the keys ?"   Thanx ..
