This build and I have quite a History . It is a JoHan flat box original from 1964 . I bought it and custom mixed the color as a tribute build to one of my favorite Customer's Car I had in my Paper Route . Back in the day , I built strictly Hot Rods or "Customized Sleepers" . Every one had V/8's with dual quads ! So , this one fell into line . After many years , it was converted back to Stock . I did a almost complete restoration . While replacing the 289 Ford Dual Quads and the Chromies with the AMC 6 and Stock W/W's and wheel covers . It still lacked the lower grille . I eliminated it to reduce weight ? Yes , I did in fact . I did manage to order the new replacement replica part from Modelhaus on my final order last year . When I get it , I will strip it and repaint with correct MCW paint . That is the plan anyway . I sold this along with my Entire Collection in 1978 . This was a Huge mistake .. let's just there is an ex-wife involved in this selling of myself .
Many years later I see this at the F&F display at the Toledo Hobby Show . I did negociate with Ed Jr and bought it . He was tired of draging it back and forth to the shows . It was lacking : Engine , Stock W/W's and Wheel covers , and still missing the Lower Grille . I didn't have Stock Wheel covers . I Improvised to imitate the Optional Wire Wheel Covers . I just am not bale to duplicate the Large Knock Offs with the - R - on the centers . Does anyone have these to trade off ? The Stock CVovers that is . The Knock Offs with the - R - were never replicated in scale model form . So please , consider this a pre -restoration before Picture . Enjoy ..
I have a just couple of my original Collection from 1958 - 1978 . This is one . Thanx ..
