Birthday present
Posted by JakeCouture on Monday, October 25, 2004 10:36 AM
So today is my birthday (Yay!) and I used that to my advantage and dragged my fiancée to my LHS on Saturday. I thought I was treating her to something new until she stated that hobby shops always have "that same smell." Confused, I asked her when the last time she was in a hobby shop was. Turns out, she had built a couple of airplane kits as a kid. She left me alone in the car aisle and went to look at plane and military kits. I was shocked to see her with a handful of kits. Now, we're saving for a wedding (major $$$), so we each could only get a couple of kits each, and then we got $50 worth of paints and supplies. But my bride-to-be got a Shelby Mustang and a 1:72 military rescue set. I, of course, am thrilled about the Mustang, but also the fact that the woman I love is willing and eager to join me in my hobby, even if she does go for the plane kits. She even suggested that we use an old table cloth to sit at the dining room table and build models together. I love this woman!

Happy B-Day Sorry, I'm late but happy belated birthday, and congratulations. I do believe you have a "keeper".
I feel very fortunate also in the fact my wife totally supports my hobby, and reads this forum along side me from time to time. She's even starting to recognize some of the names.
Happy modelling

Any potential spouse who shares your enthusiasm for your favourite activity bears some serious consideration.
In my case, my passions are karate and motorcycles. I met my GF at karate and she's going to buy her own bike within the next few years.
Of course, that being said, it's also important to have seperate interests as well so that you don't smother each other.
Happy birthday!!

Way kool find there my man. Just make sure she doesn't swipe all your fresh Xacto blades and cleans the airbrush when she's finished.

Hmm? Are you listed in your LHS for wedding presents instead of a stupid shop selling plates and tableware in a chosen pattern?Clown

LOL! I did get the greenlight to register at my favorite motorcycle shop (I've got some performance mods in mind for the winter), but honestly hadn't considered the LHS. I'll need to replace all of my Mustang kits she keeps swiping for herself.

Just make sure that you keep "His" and "Hers" parts boxes. I see some arguments brewing if not....Laugh
