Hi ya midnightprowler ...

Ah ... the Monkeemobile ... brings back warm memories of being in 7th grade and watching every episode of the Monkees ... gee was I a nerd ... but, anyway ... the car didn't appear too many times in the show ... but, I understand that it has had quite a colorful career since.

Great build-up of a great car Lee ... thanks for sharing ... Smile,Wink, & Grin

The kit is simple, a 1 piece frame with a basic engine you cant see because the hood doesent open, and a fake blower done for TV. the interior is a tub with seperate bucket seats, dash, wheel and shifter. It builds a nice curbside in the 60s style, but im told Baris emblems are now gone, and the decals are wrong. I can look closer if you need more info.

Very nice build-up, Lee. glad to see someone actually built one instead of stashing it, like mine is,lol. Still plan to build it though. I love that car!!!!!!!!! Saw it at a show years ago (besides seeing it on the tv show), have loved it ever since. Dean Jefferys has quite an imagination, who else would of thought to make a phaeton out of a GTO. I went to a "gentleman's club" because the sign said they had all the hottest models. I thought it was a hobby shop. Man, was I ever disappointed.

Very nice. I build one like that when I was 10. That time Monkees was in the top. It was 1969. Here in Brazil, it was common to see the tv Monkees´s show ... Hey, hey, little Monkees ... I think that was the song ...

Thanks, yes it is box stock, with white flocking. The front needs putty work to look smooth like mine. The color is red with pearl powder added to the clear.

Lee,

Your Monkeemobile is gorgeous! I just picked one up at a show for $5.00. Now I must decide what brand and color red to paint it. What red did you go with?

I think I used Testors Italian red, but I'm not sure anymore. The pearl is what gave it the pinkish cast. I have some extra powder I will be willing to sell. Email me.

Seeing yours makes want to build one again! The next one I build will definately look
better than the one I built when I was a kid.

I look at your kit, Lee...and i want to build one, lol.
Then i get out, see it on the shelf, and talk myself out of it...I know not why.

Maybe it's because as a kid, The Monkees was my brothers favorite show, and i hated it because Davey Jones gave me a headache. He even made me hate the Brady Bunch when he showed up on that show, i always thought he was a geek-a-zoid of the highest caliber, lol.
Funny how we also remember those "NOT" so cool memories of our yout, lol.
