Having voted "other", I'd like to see what everybody would do with a pickup truck.

Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, whatever floats your boat. This way we could build an emergency vehicle, a junkyard beater, a fully tubbed race truck, a custom, a futuristic "Mad Max" style truck, factory stock, one that good old dad used to have,..... Endless possibilities!

i picked "other" because there wasn't a hot rods or street rods thing to pick and i would want to build a custom or street rods, so thats what i would go for.

I'm in.

I vote bone stock assuming factory stock. If bone stock means box stock then I'm happy with that too :)

I voted for a Muscle car but after reading MojoDoctor's suggestion about doing a pickup I started thinking that would be a great idea. Not to get too specific right off the bat but AMT is reissuing their '55 Chevy Cameo soon here. That may be a great subject.

well since i just cast my vote we now have a 3 way tie, imagine that! but i like mojo's idea since that would be sufficent for me to do an emergency type truck?

I picked the bone stock catagory because I enjoy the challange of taking a "stock" kit and modifing it into a different version of the same year vehicle( Like coverting the '57 Ford Fairlane into the 300 custom) or building a phantom version, like a sedan delivery or el camino/ranchero..

I voted muscle car simply because I havent built one of those since I was a kid and I think its about time I made one again - this time in a descent build-quality Wink
I also suck at engines and engine compartments and this would be a great way to get some experience with a little help from others.

I voted musclecar, as that is predominatly what I build, but I would have voted bone stock if that meant factory stock, as that is predominatly how I build my s.

OK, hows this, we can do a THEME build....... and that theme would be PickUp trucks .......... the only requirment would be that it has to be a pickup truck!!!!

when would you guys like to start????

I'm on board with the pick-up themed build. Lots of flexibility for everyone's taste and skill. I'd be equally impressed with a nicely weathered beater truck, or a Formula-1 race truck (my brain hurts just trying to imagine that, never mind BUILD it!)

I say we do it. A January 1 start date sounds good, with maybe a month to complete? What do you guys think? Lets get some ideas on the board so we can agree and get truckin'!

i think that sounds good but some of us can't build that fast to do it in a month. so i say a month and a half to two months. i know that some times i can't build for a while because i have school the next day and i may have homework but still would like to work on a CBP or on my own projects. i hope that this will change some of your minds. i do like the pick-up theme. i am in the prosses of bulding a 65' chevy stepside pick-up and turning it into a pro-street truck. the kit is a stock and is good and detailed. thats what i would suggest to anyone who wnts to build it.

again i hope that changes your minds that not every one can always have the time to build in a month, so thanks.

How about we poll for the theme?? It seems that 3 people decided here and there were a few more who participated in the original poll.

I'm willing to do a pickup and I like the "Theme" build idea, but it may be better if we're all working on the same specific kit.

Maybe we should run another poll and see where it takes us?

Here's a suggestion....
1. Pickup -- theme build
2. Pickup -- specific kit
3. muscle car
4. factory stock
5. emergency vehicle
6. street rod/custom
7. race car
etc.

Same here and I agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against a pickup. I have 2 that I need to get to anyway! I just thought it would be better if we polled for the subject/theme.

I think the pickup theme idea is great!
It would give everyone lots of room for creativity - and I would have an easier time finding a kit. There arent many car kits to choose from here in Denmark (the local shop has maybe 10 different AMT and 10 different RM + some Tamiya racecars...!)
I think building time should be 2 months.
Lets have a new poll Smile

the pick-up theme sounds good to me as well. i also think a two month build is plenty of time since were not trying to build the most highly detailed model ever built in the world.i think i would do another rescue type truck, you can never have to many of those. plus the three i have built , only took about 5 weeks to do.My 2 cents

ok, lets keep in mind, that this will be the FIRST, in what i hope will be many CBP'S!!!!!!

Next, lets do a poll on what truck kit to do, then after that i will start the CBP thread, and have Jim or andy STICKY it for us!! My idea is, seeing that we are doing a truck, to put the thread in the truck section of the forum...??!!

OK??

Where was the poll that decided a pickup truck??? I didn't see it. Who decided? I see a poll for which pickup but nowhere do I see a place to participate in a vote on whether it should even be a pickup.

How about a "Hollywood Motorstars" CBP?

If it was on TV or in film then build it...That covers Muscle cars, motorcycles, dune buggies, whatever.

Something for everyone and not restricted to a particular forum, includes everyone registered here...

Just a thought... :)
