Excess parts clearing house
Posted by flahotrod on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 6:15 PM
Hello, everyone. I am relatively new here, so if this topic has already been brought up, please advise me.

Has anyone thought about trying to establish some kind of clearinghouse for unwanted/unneeded parts? Oftentimes I will get a kit for some of the parts and have no interest nor desire to finish the kit. There have to be others who would like the kit, and would not care about the parts I kept. Same goes for decal sheets.

This could save us all some money by not having to buy the kit each time we want it for just a few parts and, more importantly, it would foster good will and communications between those of us interested in participating.

Please think about it and share your thoughts & ideas.
I married my wife for her looks, just not the ones she gives me when I bring home new model kits.

We are already a 'virtual clearinghouse' in our own homes. If anyone needs something, they only have to ask in the "Where can I get......" forum.
It might be impractical to send all unwanted parts to one location and expect someone to catalog everything. Heck, I'm not even sure what I've got in my garage!

Please don't misunderstand...I am not suggesting a physical clearinghouse. Just a way for us to post what we are looking for and what we might have for trade (or to just give away). I don't claim to have the best answer, but just see a potential for allowing us to use this as a way to trade parts amongst ourselves. Blush

Firemodelman: That's what I was hoping for. Is there a particular Forum here that is generally used for this or is it just done across the board??
