Hermaphrodite (ohh er missus!)
Posted by mini man on Tuesday, November 07, 2017 9:14 AM

Trying to do a WW1 tank as a tribute to my grandad who served in France,he died in the early 70s but he also seved in Ireland as a Black and Tan during their war!

Then the home guard during WW2,I rember hearing a story about his temper (like myself he wouldbuild up then......Blow!)

So a POW was goading him about his height while grandad was milking a cow (on a 3 legged stiil) so Granddad blew and just raised himself off the stool and cracked the POW round the head with it!

Now myself..Since my 2nd stroke I find it difficult to get my head round things that are not familiar to me,plus my dexterity makes it hard to grip bits (keep dropping them!)

I have a feeling the body side is wrong so you may not see this again depending on my temper!!

This part!

You must understand that now that you've shown us what you are building you are legally obligated to finish it.  No temper tantrums allowed!  lol

So I cant throw my toys out of the pram?CryingGeeked

Did however get the sides wrong now corrected.

These are the outer sides with pill boxes inbuilt..

This will give you an idea on size.

According to the instructions the tracks can be glued with normal cement ( we will see............)

For such a small model it sure looks detailed.

Secured the tracks with CA now come off you gits!

The sides were assembled with the pill boxes after trimming the sides down!

It is going to be a game of patience...Glued the wheels and will have to wait to do the side joints.

It's not that small as I have large mitts!

There used to be one at the Patton Museum on Fort Knox, actually a much later version, but visually similar. Yes, they are pretty big, but not as large as our current modern tanks.

One  thing that really bugs me is when the sprue entrance is right on an angled part..

To make this box..

Was watching a doco today and it showed one of these and I realised that bth gun mounts were upside down, also here is by a pr of 1910 bus chassis rails to give scale..

This one..

Had an experiment with the tracks,by slicing part way through on the outside they will curve nicely..

The base kit is from 1991-92 and while modelers were glad to have this legendary WW1 tank in plastic, the Mark IV kit was not thought of as a well engineered model. They released the Male and Female versions (male had big cannons and female only machine guns) and the lengthened hull "Tadpole". Then this version includes both the Male and Female sponsons to build either or the Hermaphrodite by combining the two. I think this one was released in the 2000s with new parts to make it the Mark V.

Thanks Rob,

That explains a lot,did not want to  slag the kit off wondering if it were my miss understanding of it.

That happens when a company adds some new parts to an older kit in hopes of stretching out the kit's usefulness.

Isn't it incredible how often you can be examining reference pictures and still not notice everything that in hindsight looks so obvious when you see it on your model in the wrong place or upside down or whatever? I've done it quite a few times. Seems like you are defeating the issues successfully
