Ferrari Daytona 3D printed engine
Posted by ModelTexan1 on Thursday, August 08, 2019 8:07 PM

Long story short: I wanted to make a "true" Daytona Spyder from the Corvette-based Miami Vice kit in my stash.  Deep into the project I realized it was never going to meet my expectations.  So...I decided to use my 3D printed engine I had designed as a stand-alone kit by making an engine stand.  It is kind of crude but I didn't expect the details to show when it was installed in the engine bay.  Still, I think it looks OK.

I used the parts from the Testor's Daytona Coupe kit for measurements when I designed the engine using FreeCAD. That way I can still build the Coupe and maybe print another one if I ever get the wild idea to try again :)

interesting. you got pretty good detail from your printer. Also props for creating the 3D mesh yourself. Are you going to share it anywhere?

Thanks.  I hadn't thought about sharing it.  Maybe I'll put it in thingverse.
