Has anyone ever seen or tried to make a BAJA 1000 type of truck like the ones Robby Gordon use to drive?

are you talking about a model like his truck or an actual prerunner/trophy truck? if you are trying to build a real truck like gordons, expect to spend easily upwards of 100k. if you are talking about the model, check out my thread titled CHECK OUT THIS GUYS WORK.

I want to build some of those myself!
I used to have a couple of pre-runner trucks.
I am going to use the dodge little red express and maybe a dodge nascar chassis and modify from there?
If you run across any good info ,please let me know?
I think classic metal works has some larger scale baja single seat buggies and class 8 trucks they sell at Wal-Marts.
I have one of the buggies, but they are like 1/18 scale?

i didnt know wally world sold models of class 8 trucks. ill haveto check that out next time. i dont know anything about the trucks you talked about, but i know for the prerunner's ive done, you can just modify the exhisting chassis into a tube frame by just cutting it, there is a lot more involved for thingsl ike center-mounted a arms and stuff like that. make sure you stock up on the tube styrene, youll need a lot if you plan on doing a cage and a tubeframe.

Wow Guys !! I must say it's good to see this site talking about the one sport I love . Off Road Racing !!!!!!!!
My name is Dave Baldwin . I've been making and breaking models for a long time . But I'd have to say with in the last couple of years has my modeling become Mucho better then days ago. Seems with every new model I make I get a little better at something.
I would also like to say I've been reading some of the posts on this board and I was kinda blown away to hear you talk about my model and ALL THE KIND WORDS !
I just want to say thanks for the Kind Words It means a lot when Real modelers give you props.

So who wants to talk Off Road modeling ????????

Very cool. I like this board it's set up nice. But whats the deal with posting pix ? Do the pix have to be hosted by some one ?
The diecast TT truck's and buggys you are talking about can be found @ most
Off road stores . Try this one www.RacerXms.com.
Also Hobby-people has them or can get them.
I couldn't help but notice you guys talking about Robby Gordon and his TT's .
His old TT Not the Cingular Wireless one But it was the Valvoline TT he had ,That TT had a price Tag of $750,000.00 . Most of the TOP Notch Prerunners that are being built today will cost you About 200K .

I have made a couple old Robby Gordon TT's . One of them he signed for me.
I'm working on his new Chevy TT Just trying to figure out the front fenders before I start cutting the bodys up.

nice to see you one here dave. im on the yahoo group too. might recognize me as kalisnowboardguy. youre talking about the red bull truck right? id be more worried about getting the body lines and fake headlights for the 03 silverado instead. BTW do you have any other pics of your RG trucks? im a big fan as well. one of the only guys who can race anything.

Right on ...!
Yes the Red Bull TT thats one of my builds.
There's a little unknow fact to the real body that most people don't know . I gave my word to them that I wouldn't say anything . I hope you can respect that. I will give you a hint , Just look at the two body's really close. You should pick it out with no problem.
I think I have found a perfect shape for the fenders but I havn't lined anything up yet......I've been working on yet another one of my projects.
My new build I'm doing now is a class 1 car . I posted some pic's on the DRM's email group so If your settings is set to get emails you should have the pic's.
Send me your email addy and I'll send you some pic's of Robby's TT.
Thanks DB
