Old NYPD patrol cars.
Posted by hot ford coupe on Thursday, February 12, 2004 6:59 PM
I would like to build a 40 Ford standard as a vintage NYPD patrol car. There is a picture of a model in a magazine called Model Cars. It shows the basic color scheme but not some of the details like the attachment of the whip antenna, the colors and details of the interior, or any specialized equipment . I know NYPD used this type of coupe but I can't find any pictures for research. Does anyone know of a website where I can find what I need to build this model?
Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks ever so much Firemodelman. This may open up a whole new field of modeling for me. Vintage NYPD vehicles from the 30's all the way to the 60's. Those are the ones I remember most as a kid. It will be easy to paint up the old green black and white onall kinds of cars. I figured you'd be the one to come to for the best info. Thanks again

Yes gratch, that will do nicely. Thanks. I'm looking for primarily vintage stuff but that too gives me another direction in modeling i.e. New York State police.

Hey Dave. If you want some good photos of a Florida HP cruiser, my neighbor, a FHP trooper has one parked in front of his house. It's a Camaro all decked out. He usually works nights but I may be able to convince him to let me get a few good detail shots. Let me know if you want them. I can send you floppy discs from my digital camera I wrote you about.

I heard that brother, That particular car has always been a favorite of mine. even before Blues Borthers. I was in love with that car ever since the film Walking Tall came out.
Them BIG Mopars are a weakness of mine.

Hey, check out this picture i found looking for reference material.
